November 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. One or more of the external links you added in this edit to Innovation do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. You may wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you.   Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Physics. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Physics. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. - DVdm (talk) 15:14, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. PI External Links edit

Hi there. Although I understand that you're trying to provide useful resources by adding external links to articles, you can read above that people are concerned that your efforts are more geared towards promoting the Perimeter Institute in particular than helping Wikipedia create the best articles possible. Although some of the PI outreach information is very interesting, I'm afraid that if your only goal is to add links to Perimeter Institute pages, then your work here will be perceived as a conflict of interest and reverted. For more information, see Talk:Physics#Perimiter Institute External Links. If you have any questions about our policies here at Wikipedia, please don't hesitate to email me. -- SCZenz (talk) 18:22, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message, and for agreeing to stop posting the links. Obviously we would love to have your help in improving our articles. However, be careful about editing "on behalf of" any organization; shared accounts are not allowed. What we're looking for, really, are improvements to articles that stand on their own and are supported by reliable sources: ideally, secondary and tertiary sources like textbooks, newspaper articles, and reviews; but also primary sources like peer-reviewed journal articles where appropriate and necessary. To get started on where work needs to be done, you can take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Physics. -- SCZenz (talk) 12:06, 18 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
