Petr Čech and Rob Hulse

Why does a paragraph about Rob Hulse breaking his ankle belong on the Petr Čech page? SteveO 22:24, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Please don't delete text for no reason. It was an accident but Petr Čech broke it. Čech raced out to smother his effort and in the collision the Blades top-scorer suffered an horrific injury when his ankle appeared to snap beneath him [1]. (JoeWiki 22:30, 17 March 2007 (UTC))
I did delete it with a reason, the reason being that, imo, it is non-notable. Wikipedia is not a news service. SteveO 22:46, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
If you genuinely believe this is non-notable then why have you made similar changes yourself in the past when Chelsea players have accidentally been injured. Čech breaking Hulse's ankle [2] was an accident. Fortunately these accidents are rare in football but you can't deny this is a notable event in Čech's career. Please do not continue to delete which could be seen as manipulation of Wikipedia. (JoeWiki 07:54, 19 March 2007 (UTC))

Re: One-club man

I was going to say that maybe we should only include players who have retired, but then I thought that discriminates against current players who have shown loyalty to their club (Francesco Totti, for example, who I think I added to the list myself). I feel ten years, while an admirable length of service for current players, is still somewhat too soon to qualify for inclusion in the list, and a twenty-year tenure rarely happens. So, on the talk page, we could offer the choice of a) a minimum of fifteen years of service for current players to make the list, or b) include retired-only players. Your thoughts on that? - Dudesleeper · Talk 13:52, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Only Fools Stage Fright.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Only Fools Stage Fright.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Chelski

I redirected it because the other page doesn't exist, not because I hate Chelsea :) Will (is it can be time for messages now plz?) 20:39, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Watching the match at home was hilarious - me, and me mum cheered when Kuyt "scored" last night (I'm a 'pool fan), and my dad cheered when it was disallowed (as he had had a bet on Chelsea). Good game, though. Will (is it can be time for messages now plz?) 20:57, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm not going to disrespect Chelsea either - they are a good team, but I think that Liverpool are just good with penalties (which I hope the final won't go to. Deja vu...) Will (is it can be time for messages now plz?) 21:15, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Of course, Ken and Deirdre would have to get married, so would Prince Charles, and the Pope has to die. Then Liverpool have it in the bag :P Will (is it can be time for messages now plz?) 21:27, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
The odds of that happening are worse than Arsenal winning the Champions League. And that's saying something. Will (is it can be time for messages now plz?) 21:41, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
I think Chelsea have beaten Liverpool in a semi final - not a Champions League one, but a recent semi nonetheless. Will (is it can be time for messages now plz?) 21:44, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Given the edits in question were almost a year ago, it's unlikely they were yours. The most likely reason is you're on a shared IP address. SteveO 20:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: John Boyle

Hi there. I'm not sure what state the article was in at the time, but you deleted John Boyle as a non-notable person. As someone who played professional football for Chelsea F.C. for a decade, he fits the notability criteria. SteveO 01:52, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I didn't see that in the article's history. A vandal had overwritten the notable biography with their own. I have restored the notable version and warned the vandal appropriately. Regards, (aeropagitica) 04:43, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Chelsea Pensioner

Hi SteveO, I just wanted to ask if you could upload the Chelsea-pensioner to the wikimedia commons? You uploaded it to the english wikipedia [3] and I would like to use it in the german Chelsea F.C. article. I would do it myself but I don't know under which licence it should be released. Thanks in advance! TheBlues 82.83.87.156 21:07, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately the Commons doesn't allow you to upload copyrighted images (see here). I had a quick browse through the German wikipedia and all football club crests seem to be uploaded under the {{Logo}} licence. My advice would be to use that one. Hope that helps. SteveO 21:30, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I'll do so. Thanks again for your help. TheBlues —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.83.79.204 (talkcontribs) 07:58, 18 May 2007.

Good Luck Steve

Good luck for tomorrow Steve! Very best wishes to you and "Yours", you can't let 'em do The Double! Cheers, Lion King 22:03, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Your'e welcome! I was really pleased that you did it, I don't think I would have been able to cope with that lot doing the double, and of course it was great to see a London Club win the Cup at the new Stadium! BTW, there's nothing to apologise for, I had a big part to play as well you know - I thought I was dealing with Steve-O, and just went steaming in, but that aside, I should have held fire 'til I was sure, and as far as I'm concerned, it's all water under the bridge. Once again well done! Take care, Lion King 22:45, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Your "doesn't need to be mentioned twice" edit in Chelsea F.C.

I see the reason behind your change. But should, maybe the result and who we beat be mentioned in history, and that we were first and last Wembley winners me mentioned in the notable firsts bit of records?

And, BTW, when John went up to get the FA Cup, were you there? Were you there? --Peter cohen 17:24, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank for your reply Steve, I've now updated it as suggested, after a battle working out how to do the references.

I did go. Much better views than in the old ground. Lousy accoustics. I could see people singing fairly close by, but couldn't hear them. Glad you had a good time even though you weren't there. --Peter cohen 20:32, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Speculative..?

How exactly is updating the Chelsea away kit information, as per the source article, speculative? It's not as if they will suddenly change it to purple or something. The details are given in the source, and as Wikipedia is a repository of fact, I find it a highly appropriate update. As to your statement that Wikipedia isn't a news service, you seem to forget the fact that Wikipedia has a news section. Wikipedia is probably the second site updated whenever something happens, and by your logic, Claudio Pizzaro doesn't belong on the page either, does he? Next time you delete something 'speculative,' check if there is a source, and, if so, read it before you make a judgement. I'll bring the issue up on the discussion page. mpbx 21:17, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

John O'S

The article on this criminal can probably be maintained in spite of BLP concerns, if it is 1/not a copyright violation but 2/ nonetheless has an adequate source. But even if the accusation are true, there much be a reliable reference.DGG 23:29, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

How about this BBC article?[4]. It details the crime and the sentence received. SteveO 23:31, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

    • I would accept it, provided you do not emphasize the details of the crime beyond the unavoidable & do not copy the content--some of these articles do copy newspaper content, and that makes them an easy target. Doesn't mean that others would accept it--I'm very flexible about this but my views are not always taken as consensus. Good luck with it. DGG 23:36, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
