Fall Creek Academy

This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Fall Creek Academy, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.fallcreekacademy.org/about.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) VWBot (talk) 17:15, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Fall Creek Academy

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Fall Creek Academy, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 17:50, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 17:51, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not vandalize pages, as you did with this edit to Fall Creek Academy. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. TwistOfCain (talk) 18:15, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Promotion

edit

Well, the article Fall Creek Academy was nominated for speedy deletion as promotional. DGG, an administrator with a strong commitment to saving articles whenever appropriate, helped you by removing the promotional material. However, you proceeded to add more promotional material, so the article was deleted after all. If you really couldn't see that that was what you were doing then I can only assume that you are so closely involved in the subject that you cannot stand back and see what you write from the perspective of an uninvolved outsider. This is one of the reasons why Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline discourages editing on a subject in which you have a personal involvement. To have an article about the school would be fine, but to have an article whose principal purpose seems to be to tell us how wonderful the school is is unacceptable.   This is your last warning. You will be blocked from editing the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to Fall Creek Academy. TwistOfCain (talk) 19:39, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Fall Creek Academy. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. WuhWuzDat 19:51, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Advice on promotional editing etc

edit

In answer to the comment you have placed at the top of this page, if you honestly can't see that such writing as "Fall Creek is dedicated to breaking the sequence of poverty, through education" and "The curriculum at Fall Creek is designed to let students excel as fast as possible" and "GEO ... has been making access to quality schools a reality" will look like promotion, then I can only repeat what I have already said: you are probably too closely involved with the subject to edit objectively. However, the present version of the article is not promotional. It could certainly benefit from expansion, but my advice is to leave that to someone else. If you edit it again in a way that looks promotional, you will risk not only having the article deleted for a third time, but also being blocked from editing. If you are interested in contributing to Wikipedia in general, then I suggest (1) editing on other subjects, leaving this one alone, and (2) starting in a small way by making little improvements to existing articles. That way you will gain experience of how Wikipedia works, and when you come to write a whole new article you will be far less likely to undergo the disheartening of having your work savaged or even removed altogether. If, on the other hand, you have no interest in editing Wikipedia in general, and came here only to promote a group of schools, then you would be better advised to find another web site to do so, as people who come to Wikipedia purely to promote a particular organisation tend to have a frustrating experience. Finally, let me say that you are very welcome to contact me on my talk page for any further advice or help. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:16, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because you have persistently edited disruptively, including repeatedly removing speedy deletion tags and other maintenance tags, despite repeated warnings, and because your principal purpose in editing Wikipedia is clearly promotion. Several editors, including two administrators, have made attempts to help you, and have warned you of the likely consequences if you persisted in the same way, but you have not heeded the advice that has been offered. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. {{unblock|reason=I hope I can be unblocked. I was new to this wikipedia thing and wasn't exactly sure what I was doing. Thus, I deleted things and such, without knowing that it was bad or anything like that. I am just trying to make informative pages about a couple of schools. The editing I am going to be doing from now on is just updating the schools enrollment numbers and such, I have learned what advertisement is and will not advertise the schools. I plan on just informing people of the schools, and not bragging about them at all. Please consider my request to be unblocked. I now know more about the wikipedia site and will not advertise, and I will bring an unbiased opinion to the articles. ThanksSteph.lang (talk) 14:05, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
