Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: You may have used your real name in your username, which makes you more vulnerable to harassment.. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.

Hi NuclearWarfare. No bad feeling about being unwelcome, it is nice instead finding someone concerned about possible harassment and proper use of Wikipedia.
In fact this is my real name. Honestly I read Wikipedia's policy, which invites to strike a balance between "benefits and drawbacks" of a real username - which means you have to be cautious about using it. It is not strongly discouraged, unless the words in Wikipedia's policy are actually concealing some kind of understatement.
I work in Information Technology on subjects like IT Governance, security, frameworks, best practices, standards and the like. My contributions (if any) will be on such subjects. I am not planning to tackle highly debated issues like politics or religion.
I'm planning to discuss Wikipedia articles in an existing forum on IT Governance, so using my real name might help people to spot my contributions to both Italian and English Wikipedias. This is the reason for using my real name. Thank you --Stefano.Ferroni (talk) 16:06, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I have no qualms, and I'm sure, neither does everyone else with your chosing to do so. I hope you have a wonderful time at Wikipedia. Oh, and thanks for reverting the vandalism when you saw it :) NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 01:09, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
