Speedy deletion nomination of Mark Evans (Pizzas 4 Patriots)

edit

A tag has been placed on Mark Evans (Pizzas 4 Patriots), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. A tag has been placed on Mark Evans (Pizzas 4 Patriots) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 15:48, 20 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 15:48, 20 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm really not sure it's worth it to come under all this fire just because I wanted to add an article about someone that I think has done something really useful, and not just to sit around and criticize others. Life's too short, so I guess it's SO LONG!! StarJimV (talk) 16:00, 20 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, if you aren't willing to abide by our policies, then bye-bye now. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:05, 20 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

That's just the problem - people that probably sit around in their mother's basement, and accuse others of not being willing to abide by the policies. I never said I wasn't trying to abide by the policies, I am just a new user. I have a great deal of experience in web site creation, and had an idea to put up an article on Wikipedia about someone that has actually done something in his life, but I guess that's too hard for some people to understand. This isn't rocket science folks, and there's no reason to get all high and mighty on your power trips. StarJimV (talk) 16:09, 20 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Actually mother's sitting in my basement, until she acts properly and then we'll let her out. (OK, lame humor attempt). Seriously, here's the deal: We get hundreds, if not thousands of people who post articles about themselves, their classmates, buddies, garage bands, businesses and such that we had to set up standards to judge what is really useful information about notable subjects and what isn't. Generally speaking, a subject - person, place, organization, whatever - is not considered notable unless it passes certain criteria, the most important of which that it has been independently recognized by others. Usually this involves something like stories in the news media, which can be linked to as references within a Wikipedia article. If something has not been written or talked about by others in a form that allows us to verify the notability (or even the existence) of a subject, it simply doesn't meet the standards for having an article in Wikipedia. This link will take you to a page that sets out what Wikipedia is not for.
It may turn out that this person has garnered attention by news media or others that allows us to gauge whether he meets notability standards. If that is the case, include any references for such (here's how) in a new version of the article. User:MuffledThud has already told you how to set up a "sandbox" page to try it out before it goes live. But realize this, from an old saying of mine: The best-written article in the world won't help if the subject is truly not notable. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 17:26, 20 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
