I am not sure I completely understand the "talk page". What exactly are they for? Do we just discuss random things?

Thanks, StaceyWriter (talk) 00:38, 28 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello. You have a new message at Anna Frodesiak's talk page. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:30, 30 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm just looking to get optimized to enable Twinkle in the Gadgets. I'm not really sure exactly what I'm doing so far. I want to upload articles at some point. I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

Thanks. StaceyWriter (talk) 07:34, 30 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

It actually looks as if I am able to enable Twinkle. Thank you!

Opting in to VisualEditor

edit

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 50 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:17, 11 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Note to Newbie

edit

The "talk" page for an article is intended for meta-discussions about the article. Note that it's not intended for a discussion of the topic per se; discussion should relate to ways to improve the page.

"User talk" pages are different. These are to "draw the attention or discuss the edits of a user." See Talk_page_guidelines#User_talk_pages for details.

Thus this message. You recently made grammatical/style changes to numerous pages. Based on a very small sample, a substantial portion of these changes seem to be erroneous or gratuitous. In particular, I would apply this characterization to the changes to DirectBuy and Gala (supermarket).

I am perfectly willing to engage in a discussion on each and every change where I feel the change should be reverted, if you feel strongly about your changes. Or we can take a ligher-weight approach, I can just revert changes as I see fit, then we can discuss those where you feel the change was justified. Either way, this will help us to avoid edit wars. No need to discuss it, if you feel the need to revert the changes, please do so. I just did what I feel looks better or is grammatically correct. However, if you feel differently, that's okay too. I don't think being in a edit war would be beneficial to anyone.

Thank you for the response. 99.23.173.62 (talk) 11:32, 25 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
