Articles for deletion nomination of John T. Woods

edit

I have nominated John T. Woods, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John T. Woods. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. <>Multi-Xfer<> (talk) 07:21, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article John T. Woods, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. <>Multi-Xfer<> (talk) 07:36, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi Chris

[ec] You are going to get a Conflict of interest tag on your page soon. Just to warn you.

Sorry to see the article you made was put up for deletion. Unfortunatly that happens to a lot of new editors (67% of all articles put up for deletion are by new editors).

LOL, I was about to post this warning, but Multixfer beat me to it, and there was a edit conflict as a result. Ikip (talk) 07:38, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is the only way this article can be saved, by adding sources from the last three links here [not from the general web usually]:

Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Hi Chris. Please don't take this the wrong way but Wikipedia is not really meant for promotion... If you would like your article to be kept and you still believe the subject meets the requirements for inclusion under WP:N, please make your case in the deletion discussion. While Wikipedia does not consider IMDB a reliable source (as it is user generated), anything that conforms with WP:RS is fine. If you have newspaper articles, books, etc. about John T. Woods, please introduce them to the article and mention this on the deletion discussion. <>Multi-Xfer<> (talk) 07:42, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
No worries, this isn't something to get offended by, by any means. We're just trying to do the best we can and we thought we were doing a legit listing. While it is being done by us, his management company, we still feel that the article is legit as his work can be seen on Television/Film/DVD, he's an actor, not the subject of a book. But you have a 'job' to do as well, albeit an 'honorary' one, and I can respect that, so by all means, follow through, and sorry to have broken the rules. Cheers. =)
Hey Ikip, thanks for the info. I was reading the conflict of interest section and I don't really see a problem as everything that is listed is factual data, not opinion of any kind. But this factual data is in the form of College Diploma's and DVD and TV Schedules. It's not very easy to reference that. I could mail you guys some DVD's, not that you'd really want to watch 'Mega Snake', but still. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spsfilms (talkcontribs)
The sources have to be independent. Like a newspaper article, or television report on the actor. I am not sure about the IMDB issue myself
Another option after the article is deleted:
The article you created was just deleted?
All is not lost. Here is what you can do right now:

Many administrators will be happy to give you a copy of your deleted article, either by putting it on a special user page for you (a process called userfication) or by e-mailing you a copy.

Once you have the article, you can try to resolve the issues why it was deleted.

If you've repaired the article, or you believe the reasons for deleting the article were in error, you can dispute the deletion at Deletion Review. Generally, you must show how the previous deletion(s) were in error, but this is the place to resolve disputes about whether a deletion was wrong.

I am glad the nominator is here to help to. If at anytime you have a question, you can message me. Or you can type: {{help}} followed by your question.
Also, please sign your posts with four tildes ~~~~. Thanks.
For a first time article, it is really great. Ikip (talk) 09:45, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hi again Chris. As Ikip said, there's nothing inherently wrong with the article except that we have to establish notability per wikipedia guidelines. We certainly do welcome contributions. I've seen some articles about subjects I thought were non-notable kept and improved because people were able to find newspaper articles, interviews, trade magazine articles, etc. that helped satisfy the notability policy. If you can find anything like this, or if you'd like to write other articles and can establish notability, please feel free to do so. <>Multi-Xfer<> (talk) 00:03, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
