Re: Incumbent sig

193 characters in the new signature compared to 506 characters in your current signature makes the new version the preferred option. Esperanza

I got the feeling the coffee colour reached a concensus, albeit a small one. I was talking to another user about adding an Esperanza logo though, we're just trying to find one that will look OK resized at the moment!

I did design my own user page- it's based on the standard messagebox template. If you want help with your new page, I'd be happy to pitch in: I get a distrubingly large amount of pleasure from makin' things "purty", as Weregerbil would say...

I can answer some, if not most, I think, as regards to all the crazyness. A discussion had been going on at the Esperanza talk, about Esperanza becoming more involved protecting users involved in arguements and POV disputes. The discussion had been going on for awhile, and the a user called Moreschi came on and argued the same point that as a group we should get more involved, to which I reacted by saying that it wasn't Esperanza's job to do this, and I got quite worked up about because, as you can see from the talk page now, and the most recent archive, there have been quite a few people objecting to Esperanza or questioning what we do. It was quite a stressful situation, at the end of which, Blnguyen left. I think that the up and down of it was that it was a comunication problem, and one that was made worse by a wikipedian who didn't understand what we stood for, and didn't listen. It really boils down to our image, and users outside of Esperanza ot understanding what we do. This sort of Wikipedia/Esperanza interaction has been going on for a while, and it's not good for us. I was thinking that maybe we should start a 'Constructive Critisims of Esperanza' page, so that the stress of people asking why we even bother wouldn't be at the place where we're trying to discuss other thing, but I'll have to run it by a few people (like you ;). Anyway, I hope that answers some of the questions. I don't know what's going on with Highway, but I don't think that it was related to that. Natalya probably knows more, but she hasn't been on for a couple of days, so I thought i'd just tell you everything I know in the mean time. Well, i've been going on for ages now, sorry. Hey there CliffHarris - I hope I can help to clarify (not that there's all that much to clarify, though)! Halo already explained it very well. Basically, though there were lots of other discussions that were somewhat touchy, a discussion regarding Esperanza's involvement in POV conlflicts overflowed and had some unfortunate effects, mostly from misunderstanding, but unfortunately still there. No one's POVs were supposed to be pushed aside, and it is unfortunate if it seems that way.

As far as I'm aware, there wasn't any specific issue of involvment, it was just the idea of it that had been brought up in discussion.
