Are you really Norrie May-Welby? If so, how do people who speak of you in the third person use the proper pronoun? That must be awkward for someone unfamiliar with your situation. But props to you for having the courage to be open about it!

Yes, I am Norrie, aka norrie may-welby. There are gender neutral pronouns, but I don't care what i'm called as long as it's not meanSpansexual (talk) 15:35, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ah, the failings of Wikipedia. There's no way for us to prove that you're Norrie, so you have to stay within the confines of what news articles say about you. Annoying, I know. :/ Just wanted to let you know that. We can only add in information that is referenced from reputable news sources, not original research, so you can't go in and just change things, even if they're true. You haven't done that yet, but I just wanted to let you know so you don't get in trouble. Cheers. SilverserenC 22:07, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your help desk question

You have responses. All of this seems to be related to the above sections that are nearly ten years old, so it's probably best to leave them instead of archiving.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 20:29, 30 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi Norrie, thank you for your activism.

In case you haven't seen the discussion at talk:Norrie May-Welby, it looks like the two main title options for the article about you are either Norrie (activist) or the title it has now: Norrie May-Welby. Either way, the article now makes it clear that May-Welby is a pseudonym.

In terms of Wikipedia's title guidelines, I think Norrie May-Welby is a slightly better choice, because I think a reader is more likely to type that into a search bar. But I also think Norrie (activist) is a perfectly good title, so I am, personally, inclined to support whichever of the two you prefer. WanderingWanda (talk) 06:27, 11 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

I prefer to be listed under my legal name, "Norrie", with perhaps a note that i am also known by a nom de plume "norrie mAy-welby" Spansexual (talk) 06:36, 11 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Just to be totally clear: am I correct that you would prefer the title "Norrie (activist)" to "Norrie May-Welby"? (I don't think the article is going to be moved to just "Norrie": for technical reasons, Wikipedia cannot have two pages share the same title, there is already a page named Norrie.) Oh no, i definitely prefer "Norrie May-Welby" to "Norrie (activist)". Ew. Nobody should be stuck with a job description for life. Free the monarchy! But i digress. Spansexual (talk) 02:59, 16 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your input. It looks like it's staying at "Norrie May-Welby". WanderingWanda (talk) 06:20, 17 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
