Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, JawharKodadi. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Casablanca Clock Tower, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 94rain Talk 23:58, 8 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello 94rain,
Thank you for your message and for welcoming my contributions. I want to clarify that my intention in editing the Casablanca Clock Tower page was to share accurate and relevant information from extensive research I conducted over several months. I endeavored to be transparent by using my real name, which is the same under which my original work is published.
My aim was to correct inaccuracies and fill gaps in the Wikipedia article, enriching the content with verifiable and historically valuable information. I am fully aware of Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines and have taken care to follow these guidelines in my contributions.
Best regards, Jawhar Kodadi JawharKodadi (talk) 00:07, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Alexf(talk) 11:04, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Dear Alexf, I understand that my current username, JawharKodadi, may be perceived as representing a business or website, contrary to your policies. I am requesting a username change to "Spacejoe2000". I wish to clarify that my contributions to the Casablanca Clock Tower page were not paid for and were solely intended to share accurate historical information, based on several months of research. My expertise is in the history of Moroccan architectural heritage, and my future contributions will continue to provide reliable knowledge in this area, adhering to Wikipedia's rules. I commit to avoiding the mistakes that led to my block and to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. JawharKodadi (talk) 12:51, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

That's fine as a new username; in terms of your editing, please specifically tell us how you will abide by WP:COI- for example, you won't be permitted to link to your blog or post your personal analysis of a topic. Also see WP:EXPERT. 331dot (talk) 19:52, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I understand the importance of Wikipedia's conflict of interest and username policies and regret any misunderstandings my actions may have caused.

My contributions to the Casablanca Clock Tower page were made with the intention of sharing well-researched and accurate historical information. I assure you that these edits were not for promotional purposes and I received no compensation for them. I acknowledge the concerns regarding my username, "JawharKodadi," and propose changing it to "Spacejoe2000" to better align with Wikipedia's guidelines.
Going forward, I commit to strictly adhering to Wikipedia's policies. I will avoid editing topics where I have a potential conflict of interest and will not engage in any form of promotional editing. My future contributions will focus on adding value to Wikipedia's content in a neutral and unbiased manner, particularly in areas related to Moroccan architectural heritage.
