License tagging for Image:Brandi Williams.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Brandi Williams.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:06, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

It appears you may misunderstand the copyright tag you have been applying to the images you've been uploading. Included in this group are publicity shots, album covers and movie posters it seems very unlikely you hold the copyright to. Uploading an image does not entitle you to claim copyright of it. The copyrights for these images are almost certainly held by others, and they are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Uploading such images violates Wikipedia's copyright policy. There are several steps you can take to correct this problem:

  • First, please stop uploading copyrighted images to Wikipedia.
  • Second, place the tag {{db-author}} on the image page for each copyrighted image you have uploaded to request that the image be deleted from Wikipedia.
  • Third, go to each of the articles to which you added copyrighted images and remove the image.

Persistent violators of Wikipedia's copyright policy will have their editing privileges revoked. --Rrburke(talk) 01:52, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
