Articles in a foreign language edit

Hi, I see that you tagged for speedy deletion an article in a foreign language as G3, vandalism. This is not the way we deal with such articles (and how can you tell that this is vandalism if you don't know the language ?), the subject may be worth to be translated or transwikified to the Wikipedia in the proper language. We use the template {{notenglish}} and list it at WP:PNT for this purpose, it's also a good idea to ask a wikipedian speaking the language used when you identified it. If the article is a copy of an article from an other language (a google search would generally tell this), {{db-foreign}} can be used. Happy editing, Cenarium Talk 23:12, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for telling me this. I appreciate the help. I'm sorry for incorrectly tagging the page. I'll take this into account next time I come across a situation like this. Once again, thank you. Soliloquial (talk) 00:57, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rollback granted edit

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! For what reason? I was serious, and adding to the article. as the person said above, cut out the trigger happy reverting. Even so, Barack Obama is not a Muslim (per his article), and his article does not state any basis for him being an apologist of Islam. It might have helped if you had added a valid edit summary to the page to justify this, or cited your source. Soliloquial (talk) 23:28, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have a couple things so say:

  1. I'm pretty impressed at your vandalism reversions with Huggle!
  2. Is it alright if I add a Huggle userbox on your userpage, since you've started using the software, or would you like to do it?
  3. (This question is just random) Have you considered no longer using Twinkle for your reverts?

Bradley Effect edit

Excuse me? In what way was the edit unconstructive? I explained the edit both in my edit summary AND on the article's talk page. I note that you bothered to offer no explanation in either place for your reversion. Instead, you just pronounce s summary judgment of "unconstructive". 12.155.58.181 (talk) 01:48, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I see. Then perhaps you just reverted more than you intended. You reverted two edits, rather than just the one with that error. I thought you were referring to the *first* (far more substantive) edit with the "unconstructive" judgment. I've corrected the error. 12.155.58.181 (talk) 02:00, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Besides using Huggle... edit

Hello, Soliloquial! Well, as long as you're doing a really nice job with your Huggle work, I have sometimes been wondering if you could branch out into other areas for a little bit. For the last week or so, I believe the only thing you have been doing on Wikipedia is reverting vandalism with Huggle. Could there be some time when you would like to participate in some non-Huggle tasks for awhile? This is something I've just been wondering about if you were later going to become an administrator, as they have plenty of experience in other areas besides anti-vandalism. Best regards, SchfiftyThree (talk!) 02:42, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't intend on ever becoming an administrator; I just like helping the project. Using Huggle is one easy way for me to help in one area. However, I will still try to help in other areas to expand on my participation on Wikipedia. Which areas do you suggest I start in? Thanks! Soliloquialtalk 02:52, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Since you like anti-vandalism, you might like to take some time at WP:RFPP (requests for page protection), in case there is excessive vandalism to a single article. If you would like to work at the page, you might want to read about the protection policy and when pages are necessary to be protected. Even I, myself, may need a little more experience in this area (I incorrectly answered a protection-related question on my 1st RfA a month ago)! There are many areas out there that you may learn about and help to take part in; there's WP:UAA, WP:CSD, and several others. Just take some time and read about the policies & guidelines related to these areas. You can still revert vandalism with Huggle, but I just suggested that you take some time to get to know some of our other policies and guidelines besides anti-vandalism areas. Even if you do not want to be an administrator, you can still make requests to these selected pages. Best wishes, SchfiftyThree (talk!) 03:05, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also, since you're getting started in CSD, try to watch out before speedy-tagging an article, as shown here. If the subject was a person, musical group or company, I would research the subject on Google and if no reliable sources show up, then I agree that the person/group/company is non-notable. Second, I try to notice the context of the article. After performing research, if the context is poorly written, or clearly demonstrates a lack of notability, then I go ahead and tag the article for CSD. This is just letting you know about when you should tag pages for speedy deletion (feel free to take a look at what meets the criteria on the CSD page for more information); it may seem hard at first, but you'll get the hang of it! SchfiftyThree (talk!) 03:19, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. I just noticed this while looking through your contributions but it seems to me that [probably] the only thing you're doing on Wikipedia right now is fighting vandalism. Like I had said above, it would be kind enough if you would like to try some new tasks on Wikipedia. You know, I used to just revert vandalism all the time in spring and winter this year, but I have branched out into other areas. And, yes, I still occasionally like to revert vandalism on Wikipedia, but I don't just concentrate on a software program and press the 'Q' button all the time. I just think that for part time you should stay off Huggle and learn how to be bold and help fix up articles! Thanks for the time being, SchfiftyThree (talk!) 02:16, 21 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

How do you do it?! edit

Please don't take this the wrong way, as it is not a personal attack of any kind. I appreciate what you and your peers do to keep the site as up-to-date and accurate as possible.

That having been said, I will confess: I have vandalized several articles in the past 15 minutes, and have been caught very quickly on each one (twice by you). I vandalized for my own amusement and with the full knowledge that my edits would be removed, but it simply amazed me how quickly this was done. Now I've been told that one more vandalism will result in my IP address being blocked from editing, so I'm not going to vandalize anymore (even though it would do me no real harm, as I am on a public computer). What I simply don't understand is how you guys manage to catch that stuff so fast. Is it some kind of software or what? I'm really quite perplexed.

Rest assured, I meant no harm and will not vandalize further. I am really just curious as to how you do it.

Best regards, Matt —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.228.159.206 (talk) 04:21, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Addshore is likely going to. Download it from ACM and you can learn it, really not that hard of a language. You know C#, right? The libraries and functions are all the same since it's still .NET. DavidWS (contribs) 13:46, 16 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'll download it and see what I can do. FWIW, is there anything completely different about the Express edition vs. the one at ACM? Soliloquialtalk 13:49, 16 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, Express edition has less features, doesn't support add-ins, and since you have Pro, you might as well use it...I'm not sure if my project will open in Express, anyway. DavidWS (contribs) 13:52, 16 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

You are now a Reviewer edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles 05:22, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Altered speedy deletion rationale: Josh Bird edit

Hello Soliloquial, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I deleted Josh Bird, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided. The speedy deletion criteria are extremely narrow and specific, and the process is more effective if the correct criterion is used. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 00:40, 8 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Whoops, I didn't mean to check that box. But anyway, just one little note. If you could, on pages that only attack the subject and are unreferenced, use G10 ({{db-attack}}) instead of A7, that would be great for two reasons: First off, most semi-automated tools like Twinkle will blank the page, preventing it from reaching google, and secondly, some people watch that criterion a lot more closely so it will be deleted more quickly. Thanks for patrolling! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 00:43, 8 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello on your recent message to me on the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal) the edited numbers from millions to trillions is fact, and is highly suggested you take that on board, per year the GDP of the entire world is close to in terms of above/below within the actual number of 62 Trillion.
