Dipterology

edit

Hi Sobloku,

I see that you made Dipterology a soft redirect to fly, but I don't know why it should be a soft redirect instead of a normal one. I've made it a normal redirect, but if you have a good reason why this shouldn't be like that, feel free to revert my edit and explain on Talk:Dipterology. Same with Chiropterology. --Slashme (talk) 08:04, 30 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Slashme:, Hi. I think these pages with a normal redirection have very small chance to be created as articles or to be translated from other languages (I added interwikies to several languages). I think that there is a substantial difference between a science and its subject. But, I'm not going to defend them. Do what you want. I hope that I do not look rude, I don't speak English well. —Sobloku (talk) 23:51, 30 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I frequently do new page patrolling, and I often see redirects being turned into articles, so I don't think you need to be too concerned. I completely agree that the science and the subject are two different topics, for example herpetology has its own article. That's why I tagged them both as "redirect with possibilities". They still have the request-translation tags on them. WP:soft redirect clarifies that the purpose of a soft redirect is only to hold redirects to external sites. --Slashme (talk) 08:10, 31 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
