About Shrug edit

I noticed that it as you who added Mike Morrison's homepage about shrug. I'm thinking of starting a shrug page on wiki, using material from his page, what do you think? Suede67 (talk) 08:34, 13 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi there,

I actually am Michael Morrison. My whole impetus for creating that page was because seemingly any time I attempted to add my name to the Wiki it would be removed by someone who never even knew of me.

I tried initially to create a Shrug wiki but ran into problems embedding the music and pictures so chose an external site instead.

Why did you remove my hyperlinks from the "Shrug" name to the site? I was very keen that they remain so that people could be directed to the information. Would you put them back again?

Woah! I did not remove them, I added your page on the external links, below. Generally, external links (links taking you away from the wikipedia site) are put in there. Suede67 (talk) 10:26, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mike, actually I would love you to create your page in here, if it's backed with proper references (as a proof), no one can delete it, because wiki relies on VERIFIED information. Can you try to make it again? I'll help you if you want. I'll keep an eye for vandalism, in any case. Suede67 (talk) 10:30, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Here's what I had done before. I encoded the audio clips in 'ogg' format and all, yet couldn't get it together.

So I gave up and made the webpage instead

Can you fix that? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Snopake74/Sandbox

--Actually you need to upload these ogg files to wikipedia in order to use them here. Click here. This link can be found as "upload file" from the options on the left. It'seasy to figure out what next you have to do. Once you ave the ogg uploaded, use this format...

Paste that including the {{ }} in the article, add description, if necessary, replace the * with the filename you chose when you uploaded the ogg, and so on. I hope this clears stuff for you.

One more request, please post a message on MY talk page, because it will notify me of a new message, i might not remember to check your page. Please sign your posts using four tildes (~). Type them 4 times. It reveals your name and time of post, so i come to know who posted the message. Suede67 (talk) 18:34, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, here's one. Good luck. Suede67 (talk) 19:44, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

--- You got those messages because you did not provide a license i think. i'm not sure, i'm new on wikipedia as well, and one thing i've learnt is that you need to provide a license for ever pic/audio you upload and you need to provide a reference for every word you write.

by the way, no we have not met. why do you ask? i'm just trying to help a fellow newbie out. one more thing, you really should not post a clip for each and every song, just one or towo. i dont know if theres a rule for it or not, but for whatever time i've been here, i've never seen anything like that. just one or twwo clips for reference purposes, remember this is not a fan page! i suggest you delete all clips yu had uploaded, and uploaded one or two then. because as you said, you mistakenly uploaded full audios before. Suede67 (talk) 12:37, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's not complete yet, you need to provide references for the text. For example you have written this...

"Their live debut took place within a matter of weeks at Dundee University Students Association (DUSA), attracting a considerable crowd and receiving very positive reviews".

Put a reference tag and put a link to an external site in BETWEEN where this bit of information is verified to be true, like your site. You need to do this for as much text as possible, because that's the rule here, or else anyone can delete it. Suede67 (talk) 21:30, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I know, that's the problem with wikipedia! I suggest you refer your site as much as you can. Suede67 (talk) 22:40, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unhappy news edit

Hi -- one of the few editors on en.Wikipedia that I've known in the few years working here is User:Suede67. I have not found any contact on his talk page for months now, and I noticed that you attempted to contact him on it. I have even emailed him, which is something we did regularly.. no answer. From the number of contribs he has I can only assume that he is still editing the Wikipedia, but perhaps not in English, but his own first language. If you have heard from him in any way, please do tell him I miss him and would love an email. If there is something I can do for you, please just leave me a note on my talk page, and I'll do it. Thanks. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 14:15, 5 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
