Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   or   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 00:36, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Getting free images

edit

Regarding your query on how to get "free" images- you can run an advanced search on Flickr for creative commons licenses (with full freedom - ie including commercial usage) - some results include http://www.flickr.com/photos/usacehq/5486018377/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/usacehq/5905263661/ which are by Federal agencies in the USA. Photos from the USFWS would be in the public domain too. Good luck, will look over your other query on referencing soon. Shyamal (talk) 11:19, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Shyamal I got written permission to use a photo on my page.

My question is where would I upload this image, I was given written permission to use it but I would think it would still be Mr. Lang's work and still copyrighted for any other reproduction other than the use on the Emergency Wetlands Act of 1986 page on Wikipedia. What do I need to do? Smorris80 (talk) 21:03, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

That statement would make the image "non-free" and would not be permissible on commons.wikimedia.org - There are suitable images on Flickr - see the results of this search and any of those would be uploadable to Wikimedia Commons (a sister site that allows the same images to be used in all language versions of Wikipedias), which is where you would upload them. Shyamal (talk) 01:43, 10 March 2012 (UTC) PS- I am moving this from my page to yours, since you may not have acquired the habit of looking at your "watchlist". Hi. When you recently edited Emergency Wetlands Resources Act, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Director (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
