Image:Socket 1207 new.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Socket 1207 new.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 18:47, 21 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hmm... I had forgotten about that. I had found the image before the subject (socket F) had been released, when a freely licenced image couldn't be found. As you've said, that's not true anymore. Not having a socket F motherboard myself, and not disputing your rationale, there's nothing I can do here.
The same could be said of Socket S1, but I don't think a freely licenced image could be found at all, as i've no idea if it has been deployed yet. -Skorpus McGee 11:01, 22 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Auzentech edit

Abends to you too. If you feel that you can support the recreation of the article with reliable secondary sources which can be used to verify the notability of the company, I'm not going to stand in your way. Indeed, here at WP we encourage editors to be bold so, by all means, go ahead and add your article. But please, ensure it meets the policies, and then there's no problem! All the very best. Tschuss! Ach, you really DO speak schnitzel! Now what did Tschuss mean...
As much as I'd like to recreate the article it would be helpful to see the original, deleted one. No sense in going over old ground of the only bone of contention was the lack of references. Any chance of that? -Skorpus McGee 19:24, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
So, your original article was as follows:
Auzentech is a company that makes sound cards for PCs, they use high quality parts even though their produces are in a relatively low price range. They also have a good reputation with the customers due to their very prompt support.
Bitte sehr, by all means, ensure it complies with the policies I've outlined above before recreating it. All the best... The Rambling Man 20:08, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
What, that was it? No wonder it got deleted... and it weren't my article, by the by. I'm about to turn in, it's getting late here in Hamsterville, but I'll have a crack at the article on the morrow. -Skorpus McGee 22:01, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Okay, well don't hesitate to let me know if you'd any more advice. The Rambling Man 07:14, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:SocketS1-638.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:SocketS1-638.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
