Speedy deletion nomination of Petland Inc. edit

A tag has been placed on Petland Inc. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. -- mitchsurp -- (talk) 03:15, 12 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wickes Furniture Company, Inc. edit

Hi, and thank you for creating Wickes Furniture Company, Inc.. Please note that per the Wikipedia naming conventions for companies, legal suffixes ("Inc") should be avoided, and the common name should be used. In this case, I believe this article should be titled Wickes Furniture. I have requested that an administrator move the article accordingly, as I cannot due to the fact that Wickes Furniture currently exists as a redirect to List of defunct retailers of the United States.

In the same vein, I have moved Petland Inc., which you created, to Petland. —KuyaBriBriTalk 22:38, 2 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I will be doing the same thing with Wickes Furniture, the same way you redirected its page to Petland. Sjkop123 (talk) 22:53, 2 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please note that for copyright reasons you cannot "move" a page by copying the entire content of the old article and pasting it into the new article title; the Move function must be used in order to retain the edit history. In this case, only an administrator can perform the move because in general an article cannot be moved over an existing article. I have undone your copy-paste move and have requested that an administrator perform the move. Relax, the article does no harm at its existing title, and an admin will come around soon enough and move the article. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:54, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

My apologies for that copy-paste move. Your help is greatly appreciated. Sjkop123 (talk) 02:56, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
