You didn't do anything wrong edit

I was just a little sleep deprived after a long day so I quite stupidly misread everything. Sorry about that. D= I've restored your edit and (as you can see) removed the warning.--Twilight Helryx 20:04, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

February 2012 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Pinterest do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. McGeddon (talk) 10:01, 13 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I believe the links I added for Juxtapost and Gentlemint were very relevant, seeing as these are the main direct competitors of the Pinterest service whose page I edited. Without those external links, the Pinterest page reads more like an advertisement and is less informative for consumers. I am not in any way affiliated with any of these companies. I am a longtime user of Wikipedia and I have been making minor edits for 4 or 5 years. User:Sisyphustkd (talk) 10:01, 13 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

WP:LINKSTOAVOID specifically rules out linking to "sites that are only indirectly related to the article's subject", saying that "the link should be directly related to the subject of the article". If there's been a documented rush of Pinterest clone sites (and we have a source that has written about this) then it may be appropriate to write about that in the article body somewhere, but it doesn't help the reader to link to arbitrary examples of a website's competitors in the first paragraph. --McGeddon (talk) 11:56, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I suppose that makes sense. There is in fact some news on tech blogs about Pinterest clones--Mashable covered it--so hopefully I or somebody will work that into the body.
