Tamil Buddhism edit

Hello and thanks for the article Tamil Buddhism! However, the subject is rather narrow, and doesn't clearly explain why Tamil Buddhism is different from Buddhism in general. Would you mind if the article was instead merged into Buddhism? Zakhalesh (talk) 07:44, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't think so that is narrow only the page should be expanded like Chinese Buddhism.Shivaass (talk) 07:50, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, Chinese Buddhism is a long and detailed article, because Buddhism has been of great cultural influence there and Chinese Buddhism is a very special case of Buddhism because it has both affected and been affected by the very colorful history of China. Your article mentions that Buddhism is an important influence for Tamil culture, but you provided no sources or even examples. I'm creating a merger discussion soon to sort this out. I'm not sure whether Buddhism is the best target article, though. Tamil culture would be better, and the article could use more quality material. Zakhalesh (talk) 08:13, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Fine, Let others decide whether it should be merged or not. If it is to be merged where it should be merged too.Shivaass (talk) 08:17, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Feel free to participate in the discussion and since you seem to have a lot of knowledge on Tamil culture, see if you can improve the article in other ways as well. Zakhalesh (talk) 08:22, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Manimekalai, a Tamil Buddhist literary text and subsequent Silappatikaram have great effect on Tamils, so as the Tamil Buddhism among the ancient Tamils.Shivaass (talk) 08:26, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I can't argue with that. I just think it fits the encyclopedia better in the Tamil culture article. Zakhalesh (talk) 08:41, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I like to suggest for other's consideration whether the Tamil Buddhism could be directed to Buddhism in Tamil Nadu.Shivaass (talk) 09:15, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

->Tamil Buddhism edit

There are some editors who are trying to make the Sri Lankan section pro-Sinhalese. What one of them is doing is removing valuable info citing lack of sources, and manhandling captions of images alongwith. You can see what his intent obviously is. It would be of help if you pitch in with some sources to send him packing from the page altogether.Thank you.--CuCl2 06:55, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am aware of the issue that Sinhalisation of Tamil Buddhism; but a large number of Tamil Buddhists had been absorbed into the Sinhalese people a long time ago.Shivaass (talk) 16:02, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
