Bohemians vs Shamrock Rovers

edit

I would strongly suggest that the "Dublin Derby" article, which you created, should be moved to "Bohemians vs Shamrock Rovers" or "Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers rivalry". The former being the more preferable in my opinion. If there is to be a "Dublin Derby" page, I think it should be a disambiguation page with links to individual games like the above. It should be noted that the Bohs vs Rovers game is usually only called "The Dublin Derby" in certain sections of the media, rather than by the fans of both clubs.Onetonycousins (talk) 11:26, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's up to yourself, but I'd suggest doing a "Dublin Derby" page with a brief explanation at the top (number of games & teams involved) and a list of the games underneath with a link to the individual main articles (Bohs vs Rovers) or if there's no main article, small write ups underneath. In the future, if a Pats or Shels fan wanted to create individual articles, they could remove the small write ups and add a link to their own article. I'll move that page now.Onetonycousins (talk) 12:41, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

In terms of the Bohs vs Rovers article, if you could work on the past meetings, history, stats, etc. and leave the lead to myself for the moment, I'd appreciate it.Onetonycousins (talk) 15:06, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I might just copy and paste from the piece I wrote in the Major Football Rivalries article for the time being, to add a bit of structure to the history section, if it's all the same to you, as I'm done for the day in a few minutes. You could then format the citations and add/work around what's there.Onetonycousins (talk) 16:53, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Right, it's still very rough around the edges and that history section will have to be written properly in time but the article is half-decent now so I removed the construction tag. If you're continuing to work on it, you might consider formatting those other citations like the Irish Times one is formatted, ie. citeweb, url, title, publisher, date, accessdate. I wouldn't go mad linking it to other articles just yet as it's still in its infancy. All the best. Onetonycousins (talk) 17:11, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Irish football league system

edit

See: User_talk:Fionnsci#Irish_football_league_system. Onetonycousins (talk) 16:35, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Have never opened an AfD and don't have the time to read about the procedures involved now. You seem to know what's involved so I'd urge you to do it. That article is not an important aspect of the league. It is misleading and factually incorrect from the title at the top of the page to the categories at the bottom. The structure of the LOI (2 divisions, not 3) is explained clearly in the articles I have cited. That article should be deleted or redirected to the IFL. Simple as that. People need to get their facts and the quality of their writing up to a decent standard before they go nuts creating stupid articles. Onetonycousins (talk) 17:23, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your comment at the top of the AfD page suggests that you think the article should be deleted, so you may want to make it "official" by sticking *Delete in front of it, if that's necessary. As I said, I'm not familiar with the process so it might not be necessary. Onetonycousins (talk) 00:13, 8 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Rivalries in the League of Ireland

edit

I would suggest that you move the name of that page to Rivalries in the League of Ireland as calling a lot of those fixtures local derbies, is stretching it in my opinion. It's up to yourself. Also, I reformatted that table in the Bohs vs Rovers article and will be adding more past games to it as I have plenty of references. Onetonycousins (talk) 17:30, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

As I said, it's up to yourself but a derby implies locality, as in, the same city. Obviously, you can get away with calling it a derby if they're in the same province but a rivalry would be a more accurate term in my opinion. Onetonycousins (talk) 17:36, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

A Tight Game

edit

With all due respect, don't be ridiculous. This is an attempt at an encyclopedia (fact not opinion) and those are 4 seasons out of nearly a hundred. I'm sure you could make a case for any fixture being "tight" or not. Regardless, it would be a waste of time, just like this discussion. Onetonycousins (talk) 03:54, 8 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
