AfD nomination of Ki Longfellow
editI've nominated Ki Longfellow, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Ki Longfellow satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ki Longfellow and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Ki Longfellow during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you.RJASE1 Talk 04:54, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
I don't understand. I thought articles on writers were welcome on wikipedia. I read the criteria, but still don't grasp what the problem is. Shanalk 20:51, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
I forgot to add that before I worked on this article, I checked out a number of other writer's entries. Some of them were mere snippets and no comment from wiki added. Some were long pieces describing alchohol abuse, etc. Many of them were for writers I've never heard of. A few were for writers I could not find by googling, yet if you google Longfellow it goes on for almost 20 google pages. What is the criteria for inclusion? Perhaps I haven't added enough references. (Many of the articles I read had none.) I can add more if that is the problem. Shanalk 20:55, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Copyrighted picture without Fair use rationale
editDear Shanalk
I take the liberty to asnwer the question you posted on user Betacommands talk page, and beware this reply is not endorsed by Betacommand, or anybody else, it is my sole opinion.
To comply with the law a copyrighted image must have both tag saying it is a non-free image AND a text exsplaneing the fair use rationale, as in why there is a fair use, and in what articles it may be used.
The bot BetacommandBot tags images and notify uploaders of pictures with a non-free tag but without a fair use rationale-
A bot does not have the ability to delete images from wikipedia, only an administrator does. The tags mean that your images wil go through a review by an administrator to see if there is Fair use explantion on the page.
It is not enough that there is a tag saying this image qualifies for fair use, there must also be an explantion for fair use.
This means you need to go the page and add a fair use rationale to the picture. Please do not remove the notice posted by the bot, the reviewing admin will do it.
Please see this picture Image:BizarreRideIIthePharcyde.jpg for an album cover with proper fair use rationale. or see Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline. You can besides the fair use rationale also add the following text.
This images was uploaded by Shanalk (Talk), for questions about this image please go to my talk page.
I hope this answers your question,
Best regards and happy edinting.

Non-free use disputed for Image:Spanish cover.jpg
editThis file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Spanish cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Image copyright problem with Image:Nancy Savoca+sm.jpg
editThank you for uploading Image:Nancy Savoca+sm.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 18:47, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:Crown magdalene.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Crown magdalene.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
