re: ShakingBot edit

Sorry. I've seen a couple of *Bot usernames recently that were not valid bots. When I saw it had been a couple of hours and a user page hadn't been created, I thought it had been another one of those. I should have done a "What links here" on the ShakingBot userpage and I would have seen the bot request. I didn't think of that and I apologize. It's also what I get from just pattern matching on the names - I didn't notice that it was created by you (which is shown in the log) and I should have.

As for the {{UsernameBlocked}}, those typically are not put on the talk page anymore by username patrolers per WP:DNFT. We seem to have some folks who love to create inappropriate usernames for there own sake. The block message contains the same information.

Again, my apoligies. -- JLaTondre 06:38, 27 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

No worries, it was an honest mistake, just got me a bit annoyed that I was finally cleared to test my bot, then it was blocked ^_^ Still, sorted now, no harm done ShakingSpirittalk 06:43, 27 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dark Eden Image edit

I hope I can get the hang of things hehe, let me know how I go on the Dark Eden page :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by D33ath (talkcontribs) 09:43, 30 December 2006

I've tagged the image for you, so ignore OrphanBot ^_^ To put it to the DarkEden page, you need to add [[Image:Slayer_Roahm.jpg‎]] or to add it as a thumbnail, do [[Image:Slayer_Roahm.jpg|thumb|Your caption goes here]].
Feel free to experiment in my sandbox, not my talk page ;) ShakingSpirittalk 09:48, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wow, you sure spotted my comment on that page really fast! Thanks for letting me know how that turned out. --Kevin (TALK) 03:35, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

AST artcle edit

The whole article isn't a copyright violation, just everything between the introductory paragraph and "See Also".
68.8.108.62 04:08, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

That IS the whole article; the infobox is just a template ShakingSpirittalk 04:10, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I just meant the first paragraph:

Aspartate Transaminase (AST) also called Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (SGOT) or aspartate aminotransferase (ASAT) (EC 2.6.1.1) is similar to alanine transaminase (ALT) in that it is another enzyme associated with liver parenchymal cells. It is raised in acute liver damage. It is also present in red blood cells and cardiac muscle.

I don't see that on the WebMD page anywhere... it was the original stub, someone came and added the copyrighted stuff later.

Shaking Bot edit

The new ShakingBot seems interesting. Is it just a link checker? If it is how did you import it to Wikipedia. I have content checkers that might be of use. Redskunk 23:38, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

All the details on ShakingBot can be found on its BRFA ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 03:20, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
So how did you put the program on Wikipedia? Redskunk 03:25, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's not "on" wikipedia, it runs from my server and edits wikipedia via an API made for bots ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 03:27, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
This whole thing on Wikipedia bots is confusing. Is there an arcticle on it? Redskunk 03:30, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Not that I know of, though Wikipedia:Creating a bot does carry some insight :) ShakingSpirittalk 03:32, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. It was VERY insightful. Redskunk 03:35, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
No worries, let me know if you ever think of making a bot yourself! ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 03:37, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sure will! Redskunk 03:38, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

John Viva Muhammad edit

Can you explain that again? Redskunk 21:16, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, should have explained myself better ^_^ 'Speedy' tags are the speedy deletion tags, and they take the form {{db-xx}}, where 'xx' is a two letter code for why the article should be speedy deleted. There's a full list over at WP:CFSD. {{db-a7}} is the tag used for a non-notable person/website/band/etc.
I don't like using speedy A7 tags when a user makes an article about themselves, because it's kinda WP:BITE, so I always move it to their User: page. Doing so leaves behind a redirect on the original article, so I tag that with {{db-r2}}, which is used for redirects to User: space ^_^ Any questions? ShakingSpirittalk 21:23, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Redirect to what? Redskunk 21:24, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
When you move a page, the original page is replaced with a redirect to where the new page is. E.g. Moving Old Page to New Page would leave a redirect on Old Page pointing to New Page. As redirects aren't allowed to point to anything except article/WP: space, they should be speedy R2'd if you move a page to User: ShakingSpirittalk 21:27, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
So just to get this right you redirect their arcticle to their user talk? Redskunk 21:30, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Nono, you move it to their User: page (unless they already have one, but most newbies don't). The redirect is created automatically, which you don't want, so then you tag the redirect for speedy deletion. ShakingSpirittalk 21:31, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
So you just move the page to their main user page. Then you tag the redirect page for speedy deletion? Redskunk 21:34, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yup! Or atleast, that's what I do ^_^ There's no rules set it stone, but I find that's the nicest way; keeps wikipedia clean without biting the newbies ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 21:38, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry edit

I would like to express my sincere apologies for the disruptive edit I made to George W. Bush; it was absolutely unnecessary. A man after my own heart, you are! I, too, am a fan of the Amarok media player, and would never listen to the fine compositions of such great composers as Beethoven, Dufay, and Kanye West, on any other platform! Re: Bot functions edit

sorry for the late reply.. u know in our wiki the templates must be in the left side. but when users create it, it's in the right side. we have to add a little code to the template. Its kinda difficult to add it to all the templates. so can u do that? Thanks!! By the way wats python and pywiki?? --Glacious 15:28, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but I don't quite understand, what exactly do you need doing? Remember that I don't speak a word of Dhivehi/Mahl, and I've no idea how your writing is supposed to look! ^_^
Python is a programming language, and Pywikipedia is a framework which runs ontop of it, making it easier to code bots and other wiki-connected apps without dealing with all the low-level network code. ShakingSpirittalk 16:00, 20 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK! hehe! i know that u would not understand Dhivehi Language.

OK, Here's How it works.. We just copy the English template code to make our templates and change the specific places. In the template, these codes are there:

class="infobox" style="width: 20em; align: left; text-align: right; style="float: left; font-size: 90%;" cellspacing="2"

But we have to manually add this part to the template

style="float: left;

So what i would like to do is to make a bot to detect templates without this code, such as in this article. A perfect template with the style code will look like this. Though u dont know Dhivehi language please feel free to check the difference between the two articles. ;)

So will it be any difficulties for u??

Thanks for ur time.

By the way thanks for creating ur user in our Wiki...!!

Regarding myspace groups edit

A lot of the clients or shall we call them victims from the behaviour modification are often dumped back home suffering very heavily from Post-traumatic stress disorder after having been confined for years under condition we would not even put people in prison under.

See: http://www.paulareeves.com/Photo%20Gallery/1-Photo_gallery.htm

Being tied up in a dog cage is the most advanced psychological accepted method and according to the industry necessary in order modify the behaviour of the client.

I would argument whether it is appropriate or not. That is not the purpose of wikipedia to decide whether such methods should be used. We should just describe them.

If the client do not make it trough the program when they become 18 of age, they are dumped on the street with 50 dollars and their parents have been educated not to let them inside their old home anymore. That is where the myspace-groups comes into business. They function as a meetingpoint and as a form for group therapy so the clients can enter society once again.

Of course it is not wikipedia's job to heal people. But one of the first thing many client do when they return home is to investigate whether it all have been a bad dream. Normally their parent have ordered a transport company to get their children in handcuffs in the middle of the night. So it is a kind of surreal for them.

As I read it, it is the concern of spam, which is the reason for not including the myspace group. But what if the links could be added as text only?
