Counterregulatory hormone edit

I've dropped in some refs and further reading. Pretty sure the meaning of the term isn't just what the article said it was, so I was Bold.LeadSongDog come howl! 21:57, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Great! :-) Thank you!
I have been focusing on, and researching, only the topic: "automatic bodily mechanisms that try to keep serum (blood) glucose levels above 3.9mmol/L (≈above 70mg/dL)".
The problem is that, even in medical litterature, this topic has often been referred to as just: "glucose counterregulatory mechanisms", "glucose counterregulation" (or plain: "counterregulation"), or: "the counterregulatory hormones" all of which are confusing and potentially misleading terms, as one might begin to wonder: «What exactly is beeig countered? Is it the glucose or what?» (which it is not!). Another potential complication is that, for all I know, part of those mechanisms might even be directly triggered by the lack of glucose itself, rather than by beeing mediated (caused) by hormones.
My aim, for the Wikipedia article, is to describe, explain and hopefully clear up this confusion.
That is: I have disregarded both the mechanisms that try to keep glucose levels from going too high, and also disregarded mechanisms controlling other things than glucose level.
But of course if the term "Counterregulatory hormone" is or has to some extent been used whith those meanings too, then that surely is notable, so thanks for contributing! :-)
This is what I love about Wikipedia! Everyone contributes with what they know (preferably remembering to cite some reliable sources) and then "magically" every misunderstandings will eventually be cleared up, every missig piece of notable facts will be filled in, and in the end all the information will be presented in the best possible manner! :-) :-)
So, again, thank you for your contributions!, and I wish you continued Happy editing!

Idiopathic Postprandial Syndrome edit

Hi Seren-Dipper,

thanks for your contributions in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Idiopathic_postprandial_syndrome . It seems I have this syndrome. My symptoms are hunger 3 hours after evey meal and extreme fatigue all day long. Diet change (no refined sugars, high fiber, high protein, etc.) didn’t help. Do you have any idea what causes the symptoms or did you even find a therapy?

To reduce the fatigue I’m planning to try drugs that were postively tested to reduce symtpoms in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. If you wish, I can inform you about the effects of the drugs once I tried them. I think sufferers of the syndrome should cooperate better. I consider starting a special web forum. There we could share e. g. medical parameters, that are apparently NOT linked to the syndrome thus approaching the real causes. Do you think, that‘s a good idea?

Thanks a bunch
