Orphaned fair use image (Image:CarsonHighSchoolSeal.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:CarsonHighSchoolSeal.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. — Rebelguys2 talk 05:07, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I sent a flickrmail to the individual at flickr who first uploaded this image. If that was you, please understand that we try to be careful to respect the intellectual property rights of photographers.
  • If that was not you, and you really did mean the wikipedia should use the image under "fair use", we have other tags for that. However, the bar is high there. We don't normally allow a "fair use" image if a freely distributable one exists. Flickr has many images of David Rohde. I went through them after leaving you the note above. I found half a dozen individuals had uploaded images of Rohde, asserting "all rights reserved". Then I found a flickr contributor who had liscensed his images under a CC liscense we regard as "free". Seloc (talk) 16:19, 24 May 2011 (UTC) Seloc I replied via flickrmail, although I think contacting me via email would have been much better. I changed the status on the photo that's on flickr from all rights to CC. Regardless, I'm the owner of the image, and the one who put its copyright under CC and uploaded it to Wikipedia.Reply

I hope that clears things up. Yes?
