I have an interactive 360° rendering of a famous sculpture in the Cimitero Monumentale di Staglieno in Genova which illustrates the recent restoration of the statue by showing its natural setting in 360° panorama. This is not a "static" 360° which, in a single picture shows a full panorama - it's an interactive rendering that involves subfiles, tiles, and a co-ordinating "*.htm" file to make it all work. I've posted it at my own Web site, where the viewer can click on a thumbnail and then manipulate the image in every direction. (I don't know the generic name for such a rendering, but there must be one; sorry.) I'd like to put it on Wikimedia Commons. So far, I haven't found any instructions or information about whether this can be done. Please let me know the status of such images and, if they are acceptable on Wikimedia Commons, how to upload and implement them. (My other "static" photographs of the sculpture are at: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Angelo_Nocchiero_di_Staglieno )

I've just created a new Media page illustrating a sculpture by Burt W. Johnson (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burt_Johnson):

  https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Johnson_kingman_1.jpg

At the bottom of this page, as for other images I've posted from this sculptor's work, I noticed the following:

Hidden categories: Bad use of creator template - option

I haven't been able to find out what this means and how to fix it (if it's a problem - I can't even determine whether it's a problem or not!). I've visited the Wiki Help pages on Creator templates and some other sources of information, which (to me, at least) were not helpful. Please help either by directing me to online information that will explain this, or by explaining it (briefly, in simple terms to match my inexperience!) for me. Thanks in advance.

File:Montmartre pitchal.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hi Seauton. I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request in this edit. When you want to delete a page by manually using the [[w:List of people by name: delete{{{2}}}|delete{{{2}}}]] template, please remember to follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion, otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 03:18, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Cloister 06 Gallery

added DEFAULTSORT template

Hello Seauton, thanks for your edits but please stop adding DEFAULTSORT in categories of graves and location of the Certosa di Bologna: take a look here: DEFAULTSORT creates problems with some categories, for exemple in Category:Pasquale_Rizzoli and Category:D'Amico (surname), where the information to put in evidence is not "Gargano d'Amico" but the monument who begin with "grave" who don't need defaultsort (the artist could have differents monuments in his category, not only graves); DEFAULTSORT is not adapted for alla categories (I've already put the correct keys when needed), in particular this type of edits are controversal and to be deprecated: the DEFAULTSORT Cloister 06 Gallery is problematic in this case for the alphabetical lists of categories in Category:Certosa Monumental Cemetery (Bologna) by location, with your edit the gallery was putted between cloisters. Gallery is the key name, not "Cloister O6". It is only an exemple, but also others edits with DEFAULTSORT template need a revision for problem of alphabetical lists now.--Pạtạfisik 09:40, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

I've retouched my precedent discussion, now I have understood the motivation of your choise of arabic numerals instead of roman numerals. But it wasn't work. It should be a good idea for keys like "Gallery of the Cloister VI, Gallery of the Cloister IX" etc, if in the Category:Certosa Monumental Cemetery (Bologna) by location contains only galleries, but there are a lot of differents names for categories. In my opinion in this categories it is better to not use DEFAULTSORT, or to use it carefully and to verify if it give a correct result in all cases. Best regards,--Pạtạfisik 11:04, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Greetings. Most of the changes I made were to deal with the problem that "Grave of <name>" was being alphabetised under "G" for "Grave". That never makes sense to me. I can see, however, that DEFAULTSORT may not always be the best method to achieve correct alphabetisation; however, in some of the cases where the alphabetisation was being attempted by adding ". . .|<name>" to a Category name, that wasn't working correctly - and in other cases, it was working correctly. (I'm not sure why.) In any case, if the changes I made are unacceptable to you (or anyone), you have the right to make further changes, as long as you are sure your changes are better. (As for the d'Amico item that you pointed to, that was simply my mistake; sorry.) I would like to propose the following for the Cloister and Gallery alphabetisation (I will not actually make the changes until you have a chance to tell me what you think): All the "Cloister" Categories can be listed 1 through 10 (except for 2, which apparently doesn't exist), and then the "Gallery of the Cloister" Categories can be listed in (Arabic) numeric order after. How does that sound? If you agree, I will make those changes, and then will be done with the Bologna Certosa pages. I must say that your contribution to those pages, i.e., the number and quality of images of monuments in the Certosa, is remarkable. Thanks for all that work. 47.145.63.61 18:24, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Cronk art paradox 1.jpg

This file must be restored immediately. I uploaded it only after getting permission from the artist himself. I took the photograph of the outdoor mural myself. I did not find it "on the Web". (I was new to Wikimedia Commons at the time - it is possible I placed the wrong license on it.) If necessary, I can prove the artist's intention for me to post the image, as I have his eMail to this effect, dated 5 January 2019. In the eMail exchange, I discussed with the artist what 'permissions' would be specified, and I sent him a copy of the license I intended to place on the image. He agreed completely, and gave me permission. You acted too quickly. I believe you should have contacted me first, before deleting the image, to let me know your concerns, so that I could give you these details. Please restore the image ASAP, or let me know, and I will re-post it. Seauton (talk) 18:08, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Barcelona montjuic bonet i escarrer 6 DSC 4329.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

(See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

File copyright status

Welcome to Wikimedia Commons. While everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the project, one or more of your file uploads had missing or false information regarding its source and copyright status. Please note that Wikimedia Commons takes copyright rules and infringement very seriously. Files may only be uploaded and included if their copyright status meets the conditions stated in our licensing policy, and if their provenance is clearly documented. Files that fail to meet those conditions may be deleted, and users who fail to meet them may be blocked. Please follow our first steps, if you haven't already. If you have questions, feel free to ask at the Village Pump copyright question page or on my talk page. Thank you.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 14:17, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
