Regarding protection

edit

I understand your unease on working on articles that can be edited by anyone, but please don't use terms like "Bloody Fool" or "Dont be a nonsense" in edit summaries. WP:OWN and WP:CIVIL are strict policies here.

Regarding the question of protection, please note that "vandalism" means an intentional attempt at adding false information or otherwise harm the project. I took a look at some recent edits from the pages you mentioned, and [1] looks like a good faith edit to me. If there is any controversies regarding any of these two articles (and I currently see none), the best move is to discuss them in the talk pages of these two articles. ...and, of course contact me again if you have further questions. Tizio 15:58, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thanks for your kind interest in the issue. I am sorry to use those words like "bloody fool" and "nonsense". I know I should not have used them. But you know the case is that I lost my temper seeing that some people are intentionally trying to harm the reputation of others. Like ... let me tell you in details, 1. Kalyan Mukherjee (www.kalyanmsarode.com) never learnt Sarode (Indian classical music) from Tejendra. But someone (I know that the person who is providing these misinformations is a lobbyist of Tejendra based in the USA) is repeatedly writing that Kalyan learns from Tejendra. Kalyan actually was a student of the late Ustad Bahadur Khan. The guy who is doing this is doing this intentionally I believe, to spread misinformation among classical music circles in India. Its a pity. I tried to resolve these issues by discussing at the talk page. But the guy who is doing these kind of things seems to be bothered by nothing, not even truth. He wants to just misinform people. 2. Bahadur Khan was a really acclaimed performer you know. (You can check http://banglapedia.search.com.bd/HT/K_0169.htm this website. He was a civilian award winner of Bangladesh Government.) I am not a Bangladeshi, neither am I anyone of this deceased maestro. I just know that he was a revered figure in the Indian subcontinent music circles, and I believe people should remember that. But this guy wants to show that Bahadur Khan's other student Tejendra has superseded the former maestro!! That also this guy is writing without any reference! 3. This guy is trying to badname Aashish Khan's reputation by caricaturing his so-called "conversion to Hinduism". (Tejendra may be a competitor of Aashish Khan in Indian music circles. But wikipedia is not a place to aimlessly badname people for their professional rivalry. This guy who is trying to badname Aashish Khan for his "conversion to Hinduism", is a lobbyist of Tejendra as I wrote you earlier.

I soulfully believe wikipedia should remain clean and referenced. Thats why I have put reference notes on Aashish Khan article regarding his "conversion". But I just wish truth to remain truth, and facts not to be exaggerated.

I believe the guy who is doing all these is doing these intentionally. Because he is not even interested in talk page discussions. Thats why, when I wrote that Bahadur Khan "won popularity" for his performance during his days; this guy added the word "mild". Firstly, a maestro who represented India to abroad following India Government invitations in several cultural occasions, can not be considered to have gained "mild" popularity. Secondly, this maestro Bahadur Khan was a Government civilian award winner (equivalent to British peerage) in India and Bangladesh. Can a person with "mild" popularity earn this honour? Anyway, I had not written 'great' popularity either. So this guy had no reason to badname this deceased maestro by adding the word "mild".

This guy who is doing all these things, often edits as an unregistered, often edits registered as User:Tunmaj (Ironically this username Tunmaj has similarity with the name Tejendranarayan Majumdar!)

I would really be grateful if these articles on Bahadur Khan and Aashish Khan can be blocked for editing by vandalisers. Please do the needful for this if you feel it my way.

This Khan family is a great family. Aashish Khan is Bahadur Khan's nephew. And Aashish Khan was nominated for the Grammy Award in 2006. So this family, where almost everyone is/was a genius, deserves some respect. I hope Wikipedia is not the place for badnaming people out of sheer professional rivalry.

Let truth prevail.

I hope my words make sense. I look forward to hearing from you.

Again, let me apologisze for writing "bloody fool" and "nonsense". I did not mean to insult any responsible human being.

Best regards,

Sarodiya 17:52, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

As far as i can tell what you can do is
  • ask for protection at WP:RPP; there is however little chance that you get protection this way, because the other user has been changing the content
  • try with Wikipedia:Conflict resolution; be prepared to link to the incriminating edits in this case (you have to provide links to the "diffs" of the other editor); check the existing requests at WP:RFC to get an idea;
  • get more people involved; in this case, you may want to contact people who may have some knowlege of the subjects, for example people who have significantly contributed (added something, rather than just fixing minor errors) to the articles.
Sorry but I cannot help you more, not before next week. Tizio 18:22, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aasish Khan

edit

You know that this guy is the son of the Ustad Aasish Khan - they're both seperate people. The son should have an article of his own. Thoughts? --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 18:25, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I got it now, thanks. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 22:27, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sarodya

edit

--RampageRai 17:35, 17 May 2007 (UTC)hi there Sarodya I just realized that you made changes in aashish khans page, and deleted my brother Satyam's and my name in the students section, I really dont know how you came to that determination. Not only have we learned from ak, he's extensivly resided at our house. The entire indian classical music community is a testament to this + I have recordings of lessons to prove this. You've also deleted my dad (Vasant Rai) name from a bunch of articles. Guess we have a problem. I'm reserving the idea that this is not intentional on ur part, and we can diplomaticaly resolve any issues, should they exist. regards andy raiReply

hi andy, thanks a lot for your kind letter and for your valuable points. but one thing i think i should mention here, that is i made the list of "notable disciples" of ak, who perform extensively in concerts and have publicly available authentic press reviews. otherwise, i am sure you understand that ak is almost legendary and has many many more students, naming all of whom is impossible. thats why i added very selected names. would i have got publicly available press quotes of yours or your brother's, i would also have added your peoples names. i would love to add yours and your brother's names would you kindly refer me some publicly available authentic press quotes that will be testimony to this.

about your dad, i have for long listened to his magical performances and have every sense of respect for him. but i would wish to remind you that he was certainly a good sarodist, but not a first-ranked stage musician in india, perhaps because he did not live in india. that's why people believe that his name may come to masters of world music, but not beside the names of legendary musicians of india who performed in india for decades and received national honours. does anyone in india or usa really think that his name comes beside that of Ali Akbar Khan, Amjad Ali Khan, Buddhadev Dasgupta, or Aashish Khan?

i hope this sounds logical to you. nothing is intentional or problematic. let us get things straight. ak has many many more students, some of them also play in concerts, but not all of them are renowned. i just mentioned the name of the renowned students. once you become a renowned student of ak, i think your name can also be there. but otherwise, to list all of his "students", wikipedia shall have dearth of space and the article will be extraordinarily long and unreferenced.

with all my wishes to you brothers and respect for the departed soul of your dad, i want you to remember that wikipedia is not a hagiography place, all articles and all points here should be referenced with proper quotes.

and about you brothers, even in your website, you don't mention the name of Aashish Khan as your teacher! you use to write the names of Pradeep Barot, Ali Akbar Khan, (and earlier Annapurna Khan).

very best wishes Sarodiya, Texas Sarodiya 05:54, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

hey there!! stop reverting other people articles!!!! And yes Vasantji's name dosn't belong besides the other musicians!!!! it belongs ABOVE it!!!! Its a shame that people like you denigrate great artists!!! Go do a little research!!! I know this may be out of your reach, if you ever have the luck, go and ask Ali AKbar Khan, or Panditji who Vasant Rai was!!!!! im not sure if these artists will even talk to you!! because theres a lot of sychophants like you hovering around, who they constantly have to ward off Its very obvious you're not a musical person, as you compare artists!!!! 1st rate, 2nd rate!!!! who gives you the authority to do so???? whats your qualification???? I've seen you made a lot of contributions on AAshish KHans page, good for you!!! If you know AAshishda, then ask him who Vasant Rai was!!!! he'll tell you "sarodya" it seems you're a immature person who leashes out his hate and insecurity through the internet. Its easy to hide behind your screen and voice your hatred! Andy showed me ur letter and changes, he laughed it off!! i was like no, im going to deal with this "sarodya"" put ur effort in playing the sarod!!! then maybe someday ur name will also appear on wiki articles, instead of you vandalizing them I'm going to keep a keen eye on you! and will revert/change any preferential/subjective material you add/delete. I've reviewed ALL your articles, many people have advised you to refrain from subjective input, right!!! lets learn. Get onething straight!!! i dont care what you think of Vasant Rai,as he's got enough fan!!!! 1) but he was a documented student of Allaudin Khan, and he resided at Baba Allaudins house for 8 years!! This makes him one of Allaudin Khans Students. 2) Along with all the other artists- Buddhadev, Vasant Rai has been recorded by HMV, Vanguard, World Pacific, Oriental Records, Raga Records, the tabla players were, Ustad Alla Rakha, Zakir Hussian, Mahapurush MIshra, and Shamta Prasadji (not a first rate performer????) 3)he is the only Sarod player who had a solo at Carnigie Hall!!!!(can be verified through frets magazine interview and carnigie hall event archive) (amjad played later in the 90s and 2006) If you need any advise please feel free to contact me!!! i'm anjana patel (real name) dont like using fake names like sitarya, although i do play the sitar cheers AP

hey dear AP, you need not get angry so much!!!! thanks a lot lot lot that you wrote these informations on Vasantji (that he was the first player at Carnegie Hall, and that he accompanied Zakir, Allarakkha, M Mishra, S prasadsji). I think you should add these valuable statements at Vasantji's biography. Otherwise, how will people come to know about this? i guess we are nto here to fight. for your kind info., i dont know panditji, or aa khan or a khan - i have only heard their music at discs, and i learn here in suburb tx from somebody else. though i would have just considered myself to be fortunate to meet any of those stalwarts. anyway just a wiki admin star requested me to edit some npov articles, so i was editing and contributing there. basically based on the info of the formerly existing article and on other website sources. infact i had to study a lot through various sites before writing on them. for my part i only tried to write them nicely. sorry that we the music community did not know that vasantji played in one of our best halls (carnegie). sorry. anyway, my humble advise is that pl. write these valuable info on the article too. cool down. cheers, prasen

i'm glad you understand! its unfortunate that some artist are known and some unknown! a good example is AAshishda! He is a amazing musician, I personally put him above his father!! I have old recordings of him which are superb! But AAshishda is virtually unkown!! a much inferior sarod player like Amjad is much better known. ANother example is Bahadur Khan, ask anyone at the Ali akbar college and they simply call him "a sarod player" now is that true??? I personally find him on par with Ali Akbar Khan. On an objective note (i dont get paid for this) I find Vasant Rai and AAshish Khan above the other two!!!! I'll give you reasons why: both are post Ali Akbar khan, and Ravi Shankar products both received intensive training from Baba Allauddin ( AAshishda had more, however Vasant received training from Omkarnath, before comming to Baba) When teaching Vasantji and AAshishda, Baba Allauddin had honed his art of teaching and streamlined it to perfection (hence you see the difference between Nikhil b and Ravi S) Vasantji and AAshishda had the priveledge to observe thier elder gurubhais. On a techinical note, AAshishdas strong point is his diri diri, Vasant Rai has extremely clarity and clean sound, AAshishda concentrates more on saathsangat Vasantji had long one and half hour Alaps. Also a lot of good recordings of Vasantji's may not be available in india (same is the case for bahadur khan) cheers AP

Yeah Sarodya, Anjana is right! You really have to know music and the instrument to rate how good an artist is. You cant simply rely on internet articles. Also Sarodya would like to point out a logic flaw in your thinking and that is just because one performs concerts that does not mean he or she are better or great! you mentioned that my brother or I have not performed! well we have not performed extensivly because firstly we dont need to! in terms of monetory reasons, secondly because we belive that we want to hone our art to perfection, and a standard we are satisfied with.... and still we may not perform!! On a personal note I belive Indian Classical Music is a sadhna not a commerce. Of course we (more satyam) holds private house concerts, upon requests! Again I'm not writing this to you to prove anything but to help a music lover under the concepts better. Finally I will conclude that, very objectivly speaking, yes I and many other musicians do find my dad on par with Ashishkhan, (he himself will agree to it) but much above Buddhadevdas gupta and Amjaad Khan. I find AAshish Khan the best living sarodist. You see many things have to be considered when rating a musician, sur, taal are just the basics! how the rag is treated, and the alaap is unfolded is what defines an artist, also you must take note Ustaad Allauddin Khan not only accepted my father as a student, but kept him in his house for 8 years. Vasant Rai also taught at the Maihar college upon the request of Baba Allaudin. so i wish you the best of luck in rating and writing other wikis article or your future projects. best Andy

Hi Andy, thanks 4 urs. I agree with many of your points in considering someone great. Honestly I dont know if Aashish Khan is better than Buddha dasgupta or Amjaad. Because though I was born in India I left the place soon to join my parents here in tx, and was broght up here in ct. I have had the pleasure of listening to AK only once, in CA some more than 10 years ago. Then I was on tour to CA. I liked his performance and he's realy good. But I had not much idea. The way I learn Sarode is of a different gharana. Anyway, you may be right. Thanks. I hope you also got my email. I wrote my email address above. Prasen. (mailofprasenjit@yahoo.co.in)

since 1971 kokila rai becomes annapuranajis notable student. she's the only surbahar student, dosent have to play profesionally but other students like pradeep barot and suresh vyas allways come to her for guidance. told u that ill keep a keen eye on you!!!!

quite a ridiculous matter. you are what indians say a "ghaplabaj lobbyist". your points hardly make sense. there are many more students of annapurna devi whom her close associates respect. but that DOES NOT make one publicly noted. one who is publicly professional artiste can deserve a rank for the race only.

if one is so great that he/she does not need to play publicly then why does he/she want to spread his/her name at all? let him/her do his/her thing silently.

nonsensical issues.

careful now!!
