British Isles edit

Hi Saoirsegodeohf
Will you please explain to me, why do you remove links to the article British Isles, in the articles Western Europe and Subregion?
Best regards and happy editing. Mads Angelbo Talk / Contribs 20:39, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ireland never has and never will be british therefore the name british isles in relation to Ireland is offensive and incorrect it is not an accepted name in Ireland and around the world and is not an official name so I would like to keep it that way by not associating Ireland with britain and contributing to that myth.

Hy I like to be honest, so here it goes: Saoirsegodeohf I think that you are blinding yourself because of your national feelings. The most common term for these islands is currently British Isles. The article British Isles clearly explains that this name isn't appreciated in the Republic of Ireland, but what can I say? It is used by the majority of the ppl who speak the english language to designate that archipelago. Therefore that particular name is currently acurate. If you think that you can waltz into Wikipedia armed as a national hero and delete it everywhere I truly must warn you to grow a thick skin. Wikipedia is supposed to use accurate terms in its articles, national feelings be damned. If you can demonstrate that another name is used more often for that archipelago then I will gladly improve the article. Otherwise you simply must refrain yourself from imposing your POV upon the relevant articles. Flamarande 14:18, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Let the fight go on edit

Basically i don't give flying fuck what the majority of people call the british isles i'm sure the majority of people think you are a ballbag but does that make that so ( well maybe in this case). The british media does not use the term british isles nor does the media in any country i have been to so your facs seem to be outdated. I'm not going to give up on this issue and i don't care how many times you change the name i'm going to change it back. I see you have already had this debate with a fellow irishman and you were conquered yet you still decided to put british isles back on. I don't think so, I will not have Padraig Pearse, James Connolly, Thomas Clarke, Bobby Sands, Francis Hughes etc etc etc etc etc graves spat on by the like of you, because millions have died to for the cause and i will not have it belittled.

Tiocfaidh ar la

Have you no sense of decency, sir? First you suggest that I'm a fruit (=A homosexual or effeminate man), and that the majority of ppl consider me a ballbag. Then you acuse me of being "a Saxon-wanabe". To finish you proclaim that I'm spitting upon the graves of Irish ppl. Don't you have any decency or good education? This isn't the school-yard where boys can insult each other (and slug it out if needs be). I suggest you take a deep breath, think a little upon your actions and behaviour, apolagize yourself, and then retract your POV edits. Flamarande 15:26, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Have U no decency you have insulted my people, my nation and my ancestors and refulte that fact that I AM WRONG, the one that lives in Ireland is wrong I DON'T think so. Yes you are a ballbag (scrotum or testacles) because you seem to think that i am going to lie down and take this crap without a fight becuase you have this notion in your head that you are wikipedia and that you think you know everything. I happen to have a degree in Irish history and poltics so don't try and preach to me on these matters. I think an apology is in order for your insults and disgraceful remarks. And finally spitting on the graves of irish people is exaclty what you are doing by saying that their sacrifice was in vain. I think wikipedia seems to be a a schoolyard and you seem to be the bully that thinks he knows all and I am the new kid standing up for the rights of the rest of the children.

You really left me no choice but to report your actions; currently the case is at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Personal_insults_and_uncivil_behaviour.2C_by_part_of_User:Saoirsegodeohf. Flamarande 16:18, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is not a forum... edit

Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. Thank you.
While I think you may have a point, there is a wrong way and a right way to make it. Disrupting wikipedia by using its talk-pages and/or noticeboards (such as WP:ANI) as a soapbox or like a internet forum is not accetable. This behaviour is disruptive and if you continue to disrupt wikipedia to make a point you will be blocked.
I have made a suggestion to Flamarande at Talk:Western Europe‎. Using the term "british isles" without stating that its objected to by Irealnd (people and government) would be POV by exclusion - Flamarande has accepted this. That said, I cannot and will not stand over your approach to this issue, so I will also state once and once only that wikipedia is not a battleground. I do hope you will revew site policy and become a better wikipedian--Cailil talk 16:48, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

The fact of the matter is that flamarande certainly is not noting the term british isles is controversial in a clear and distinct way and i will continue to keep Ireland separate from britian on this page as germany is separate from france.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Saoirsegodeohf (talkcontribs) 17:12, 17 September 2007
