Libre knowledge and resources

How about referring to Libre knowledge as the 'main article'? - K (talk) 23:45, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey Kim, it was my plan to merge Libre knowledge into the main Libre article, so there'd be no Libre knowledge article to point to. Do you think it's worth keeping it as a separate entry? --Sanglorian (talk) 09:18, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think some libre initiatives warrant pages of their own on account of their history. If we try to merge all of them something might be lost. For example, I would definitely not incorporate the history of free software or the free software movement which is a precursor to all of this. The motivation behind libre knowledge is different from that of free culture though they both rose to the fore in the context of Internet-enabled peer-production. In my opinion, the purpose of the Libre page should be to explain the commonalities while pointing out any inconsistencies (such as the one which arose in the OA community). - Kim Tucker (talk) 12:59, 12 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Good point Kim, I've put a link to libre knowledge back into the article. --Sanglorian (talk) 14:56, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

K Tucker's Continuity page

edit

To avoid making a mess here, I have created another page (which I can "mess with").

It helps me see the continuity of my comments when they get too entangled. I'll let you know if I make any significant changes there. Most of my comments will probably be here.

Hope you find something useful as we go along - Kim Tucker (talk) 13:11, 12 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Kim, I've only had a chance to skim the suggestions so far but there's definitely some good stuff there. --Sanglorian (talk) 14:54, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

History

That 2001 reference (Teemu Leinonen wrt Fle3) was in an educational setting. I think it is a good example as it refers to libre software and libre knowledge. I came across an earlier reference to libre software. See footnotes here[1].
