Philippines

Hello. If you wish to add diacritics to the name of the country, "Republika ng Pilipinas", it should be according to the official sources, and not personal preferences. The official way to write Republika with diacritics is Repúbliká, and not just Repúblika. The way of writing Spanish diacritics is different from the system used in the Philippines. In Spanish, República is correct, but not in Filipino, according to the official source.

This is according to page 10 of this official source from the Commission on the Filipino Language, seen below:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/tl/a/a1/2008_Gabay_sa_Ortograpiya_ng_Wikang_Pambansa.pdf (look at top of page 10)

We must follow official sources. I have therefore changed the name Repúblika to Repúbliká at the infobox of the Philippines article. Have a good day, and best wishes.

  • República de las Filipinas
  • Repúbliká ng Pilipinas
