editGifted with a svelte figure, a pretty and sensitive face, flawless footwork and scintillating grace, Kaushalya has in abundance all that it takes to be a first rate danseuse. Today she is considered as one of the most talented and established artists of the world-famous dance form of Kuchipudi.
Moulded in the strict discipline and austere commitment of the Sidhendra Kalakshetra of Kuchipudi village in Andra Pradesh and trained under the renouwned dancers, Vedantam Rattiah Sarma and Raja-Radha Reddy's stringent and meticulous supervision. Kaushalya is a superb example of the union of a strong tradition with willingness--to experiment through her intellect and aesthetics.
She has been the key person conducting the affairs of Raja-Radha Reddy’s performances all over the world for more than two decades. She also teaches Kuchipudi dance to the younger generation of students at Natya Tarangini, day in and day out and is the real arbiter of the Reddys' glorious annual series of music & dance festival, the ‘Parampara'
Natya Tarangini
editEstablished in 1976, Natya Tarangini has emerged as an institution with a difference in the propagation of the Indian arts and culture – especially dedicated to nurturing the age-old heritage of the Kuchipudi dance form. In the true guru-sishya parampara, hundreds of girls and boys, men and women from all over the world, with creative inclinations, are moulded here into fine dancers, through a systematized syllabus under the watchful eyes of the gurus themselves.
The institution has also taken upon itself the responsibility to collect the ancient treatises, including those on palm leaf, to make them see the light of day by getting those printed in periodicals in native languages.The physically challenged and children from the weaker sections of the Society are encouraged to take equal advantage of the facilities available at Natya Tarangini.
Personal Life
editKaushalya Reddy lives in New Delhi,along with Drs.Raja and Radha Reddy where they have been running their Dance Institute Natya Tarangini since 1967 . They hail from the state of Andhra Pradesh, the birthplace of Kuchipudi style of Indian classical Dance.
