Do you need some help with Eddie Lang? After careful consideration, I have reverted it to its original state before your multiple edits because of the reference and internal link removed in the first paragraph and replaced with an unreferenced statement. If the bibliography entry and external link that were also removed improve the article in ways I do not understand, please explain them more thoroughly. Sal -- Maybe I'm wrong, but your last couple edit summaries seem to be expressing frustration about your edits being reverted. You've edited the page over 40 times and attracted the attention of a couple other editors. We have the same goal as you do -- to improve Wikipedia. Go to the article's talk page, it's the tab at the top that says "Discussion" and discuss your changes there. What is the "half 100% inaccurate" information you refer to in caps? What is your relationship with Eddie Lang and his official website? Wikipedia is a team effort, Sal, and there other people here, some who've been around for a long time, others who may be newer, who will be glad to see the definitive encyclopedia article on Eddie. But what's there, particularly in the "Influence" section, is a cut and paste from the official website, and therefore a possible copyright violation.Fliponymous (talk) 17:32, 30 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

You must immediately stop adding that external link across many pages on Wikipedia. External links are only for high quality, notable, reliable sites directly connected to the subject matter of the article. You're adding that link on pages that don't even have any connection to Lang. Please immediately desist. Continuing to do this will be considered spamming and may result in your account being blocked. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:48, 25 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Eddie Lang was intimately and professionally involved in every site I have attached the external link. Please review eddielang.com as it is a high quality, notable, reliable site directly connected to the subject matter of these articles. (Sal Massaro (talk) 14:02, 25 October 2010 (UTC))Reply

Sorry, I should have pointed you to the guidelines, which is WP:EL. As a general rule, we want only a very small number of external links per page; each external link must be directly and unambiguously connected with the subject. And by connected, that doesn't mean "related to." For example, for a musician, we should only link to the musician's main/official page, along with (possibly, although not certainly), links to highly notable interviews, or other sites that include media we can't include. We do not include links to other musicians they worked with. So, the Eddie Lang link (assuming its the artist's official page) is only appropriate for the Eddie Lang page itself. It especially doesn't belong on pages like Jazz or Guitar--otherwise we'd very shortly have a list of several hundred jazz/guitar artists, which is exactly what the policy is designed to prevent. Again, take a look at the guidelines for more advice, or ask questions. Qwyrxian (talk) 21:17, 25 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
