Hi everyone Paivajen (talk) 19:14, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi! (Amdwarka (talk) 23:18, 10 August 2012 (UTC))Reply

HelloKimeun (talk) 02:13, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey everyone. Today in class we divided up our parts and found the research we need. There were only 3/5 of us in class today, so we had decided upon three topics. We are going to add to the history section that is currently on the Wikipedia page and also add two sections. One on Awards and one on Community Involvement. Sach, Amrita and I have decided on those three topics. The three of us are doing Community Involvement and an addition to the History section. For Navaneetha and Melany, please look for research regarding the awards the company has won. If you have any other ideas, please suggest them. However, we haven't had a chance to meet up with you guys yet to discuss the research we had found for our part, that's why we had created a new section for the two of you to work on. Just a reminder, all editing is to be done in the sandbox. Paivajen (talk) 21:36, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cheesecake Factory has a lot of community involvement. On their official site, it said they partnered up with "Feeding America"- the organization. It also says they donated over 43 thousand pounds. this would be a good thing to add to the Charitable involvement part Paivajen (talk) 21:55, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Another fact i just read: "Feeding America supplies food to more than 25 million Americans each year" They also partnered up with Salvation Army and supplied meals for individuals at Salvation Army centres in 13 different cities. This is also another important point to add.

For Navaneetha and Melany, i found some information about awards they have recently won. This year they won Nation’s Restaurant News MenuMasters Award and last year they won Best Practices Award. This is taken directly from the official site - there is a lot more. Apart from the information available there if you search the awards, you will end up with much more information.Paivajen (talk) 22:10, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

For Amrita- i just noticed this, there are facts on the side of the screen when looking at the charitable givings. I think we should consider them when editing our section. Paivajen (talk) 22:17, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Also, for Sach, i think i found the same article you were looking at in class, and it has a lot more information on the history than the official site has. Most of what is on the official site is mentioned on the Wikipedia page already- not a bad place to start though. Paivajen (talk) 22:26, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jennifer, sounds good I will take a look at additional research which can help us with the charitable work/community involvement as well as the facts which you mentioned. Sach, you are editing the history part, correct? Amdwarka (talk) 23:23, 14 August 2012 (UTC) Jennifer and I decided we could edit the charitable work/community involvement together, however if anyone has any other suggestions please let us know! Amdwarka (talk) 23:23, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey guys- before I say anything, again, I'm sorry if I caused any troubles and thank you all for your understanding. I'm starting to doing some research on the awards they've won, and as Jen has mentioned, I'm on their official websites. They have won many awards and it seems like their official website is a good source to begin with, however, my only concern for this is that I'm not sure how I can get "more" out of this. Any ideas?Kimeun (talk) 02:12, 15 August 2012 (UTC) Sorry, Jen, I missed the part where you suggested about doing research on awards. Kimeun (talk) 02:20, 15 August 2012 (UTC) And for Navaneetha, as Jennifer has mentioned, I think we should split the work in half to do research on each awards they have won. Kimeun (talk) 02:27, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

For Navaneetha, there are 17 awards they have won in total, so I will do further research on 8 of them (or 9, if you'd like) starting from the very first award they've won. Kimeun (talk) 02:45, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello everyone, sorry for the delayed response! Amrita, I'm going to add as much as I can to the history section. Jennifer, I found that article on fundinguniverse.com very useful. There's a gold mine of history related information there, so I will use that as one of my major sources, but I will continue to look for other sources of information. Navaneetha and Melany, we missed you both in class today! I hope we all know what we're working on, so let's finish this by tomorrow night. Good luck everyone :-) Sachdhanjal (talk) 04:19, 15 August 2012 (UTC) SachReply

Sach- don't forget, we need screen shots of the before and after. :) Also, has anyone heard from Navaneetha? I don't see her talking on here so i'm just wondering if she has read this talk page. Paivajen (talk) 17:11, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

@Jennifer, I took screenshots of the before page yesterday. Other than the before and after screen shots, what else are we meant to e-mail to our TA? Sachdhanjal (talk) 17:25, 15 August 2012 (UTC) SachReply

Ok, so yesterday we were wondering where Sach's sandbox was for us to make the edits. If you go to the CCT110 Wikipedia page where our names and topic is listed, the link to his sandbox is right there! I'm just mentioning it in case you guys didn't realize yet. I guess we have to copy and paste everything that is currently on the Wikipedia page for The Cheesecake Factory into the sandbox and make our edits there! Jennifer, I informed Navneetha to look at the talk page, however I'm not sure if she did yet. Sach, here is what you need to email the TA: According to the instructions it says "Students will hand in to their tutorial leader electronic copies of screenshots of the state of the chosen article "before" and "after" the edits, highlighted or otherwise annotated to clearly show the changes that were made, as well as a copy of the sandbox and relevant talk pages (i.e. the talk page for the sandbox and the chosen article). Only one group member, the "designated spokesperson", should make this submission, and a cover page should be attached that indicates: the group name, the tutorial section, the topic, each group member's username, and each group member's real name and student number." I believe that's all, if I am missing anything we need to email please post what else would need to be emailed! Amdwarka (talk) 17:35, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

oh, oops... i posted something but i don't know if it was in the sandbox or not. Does anyone else see it? I just added another category.. Charitable involvement. Okay, ill just transfer it over. Thanks Amrita! Paivajen (talk) 18:35, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jennifer, No Problem! I think before you add the charitable involvement though, you would have to copy and paste everything that is on the cheesecake factory page at present and then add that category where you see fit. Sach, when you are making screen shots of the talk page, I am thinking you will have to do more than one, like one of the first half of the page, one of the second half, as the whole talk page does not fit in one screen shot. Amdwarka (talk) 18:43, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the multiple posts, I just went to Sach's sandbox page and it says at the top "Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact title. Before creating this page, please see Help:Subpages."...I'm not really sure what we're supposed to do. Does anyone have any idea? Also to clarify I think when writing in the sandbox, whoever is writing/making first would have to copy and paste what is currently on the cheesecake factory Wikipedia page, and then everyone can make their edits/add their sections. Amdwarka (talk) 19:04, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Amrita, should I copy the sections into the sandbox? Sachdhanjal (talk) 19:07, 15 August 2012 (UTC) I just copied the sections in. If you would like to see what the page actually looks like, just hit 'show preview' so you can see what we're working with. It's beginning to make more sense now, haha. So just copy and paste whatever you're adding to the page in the right sections. Sachdhanjal (talk) 19:12, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

It looks awesome! :) Paivajen (talk) 20:11, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey guys- I'm almost done with the research for the awards, but as I was reading the Wikipedia page on the Cheesecake Factory, I've found that they've had some issue for the health concern as well. "The Cheesecake Factory has been criticized for their heavy promotion of large servings of high calorie and high fat foods, and a corresponding lack of healthy menu options. For these reasons, the chain was dubbed the "worst family restaurant in America" for 2010 by Men's Health magazine.[10] The average sandwich at the restaurant contains 1,400 calories.[11]" This is straight from the Wikipedia page, (under the controversy section) and I'm just thinking if I should do further research on this because this could also be sort of consider as "award" in a way..? I think it's a good idea to include cons as well, but it's only my opinion. Because I guess in a way, this could be seen as off from the topic.. What do you guys think? Kimeun (talk) 21:50, 15 August 2012 (UTC) And I'm a little confused by the screenshot of before and after.. Can someone explain it to me please? Kimeun (talk) 21:53, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

@Kimeun, that could be a good idea. We could include criticism as well... it makes the article seem much more fair and neutral as opposed to "promotional". Sachdhanjal (talk) 21:55, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

They asked to see a screenshot of the Cheesecake Factory article before and after our edits, so they can see what we have contributed.Sachdhanjal (talk) 21:59, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Sach, and it's Melany haha. :D Kimeun (talk) 22:33, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey everyone I just wanted to mention that we should definitely take a look at the final product after everyone has posted their parts, to make sure we agree with all the changes before handing it in. Amdwarka (talk) 22:46, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry Melany! I'm horrible with names haha. Jennifer, Amrita and I have just uploaded our content to the sandbox page. If everyone could get their work in as soon as possible, that would be a great help. Thanks! Sachdhanjal (talk) 03:47, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sach, for the cover page my student number is 999002234 Paivajen (talk) 03:53, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Jennifer. Could everyone else also send me their student numbers? Sachdhanjal (talk) 03:58, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Melany, add your in text citation! Amdwarka (talk) 04:01, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

HI All, I am sorry for the delay but I thank Melanie and Jennifer for their help. My student #997012227. I am just finishing up my parts and will send it to sandbox as soon as I am done.Nitahrir (talk) 12:20, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Neetha, was that you that posted just above? Make sure you sign your posts, just so we know who's talking. It says how to do it at the top. Also, if you could put your part into the sandbox asap, because we are all waiting upon your post. Thanks :) Paivajen (talk) 04:33, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you all for your help! Good work guys, and see you tomorrow! :) Kimeun (talk) 05:30, 16 August 2012 (UTC) Oh, and Sach, I did the in-text citation in every awards I've wrote because I was just worried about plagiarism.. Just to make sure, you know ;) And plus, I didn't want to make you do it if it was necessary... Anyways, I've already did the "first" citation in "intro" so if it seems unnecessary, please edit it for me. Thank you! Kimeun (talk) 05:40, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

And Sach, JUST in case you didn't get my student number... It's 999410711 Kimeun (talk) 05:46, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Neetha, where is your in-text citations and references.. Kimeun (talk) 07:37, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you all for your help! Melany I have my in-text citations edited now. Nitahrir (talk) 12:27, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey everyone, I just wanted to say good job and it looks great! Amdwarka (talk) 15:23, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

We are done guys! I agree, it looks great! Paivajen (talk) 16:20, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
