Hi,

From your username, i guessed you are someone affiliated with MSI, so i reverted additions of MSI links to various articles. Addition of one's own website (or a website one is affiliated with) to multiple article violates wikipedia's external link policy. Even if the links are useful, a person associated with that website cannot add the links, because it amounts to advertising that site. --Sodabottle (talk) 03:30, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

I understand MSI is a very good resource for Malayalam music. I will go through the links i removed and i will add them where relevant. But i do request you to not add the links in the future. The policy makes no difference between commercial and non-commercial sites, so if you add them someone else will eventually remove them. External links are a highly scrutinised and sensitive issue in Wikipedia, because SEO and advertising people repeatedly abuse them to drive traffic to their sites. Thus the extra strict guidelines. Even a volunteer/non profit association like yours with MSI, runs foul of these guidelines.

I have asked for permission to treat MMDB similar to IMDB and ISFDB here - Wikipedia:External links/Noticeboard (scroll down to the section titled "Malayalam Music Database"). If you want, you can state your case there too (i have asked for MMDB to be treated similar to IMDB). Personally posting a link across multiple articles that is directly related to your username certainly appears to be linkspam; the link to the External Links noticeboard you provided does not say anything about the linking being appropriate - as a matter of fact the only person other than yourself who commented said it appears to be linkspam.
