Notability of Lance west

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Lance west, by Hu (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Lance west seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Lance west, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 23:37, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

This was nominated for speedy deletion a spam, but as reviewing administrator, I think the article could be rescued-- and the career is distinguished. I left some comments on that article's talk page for what is needed--mainly better references.. Make sure also none of the remaining text is taken from any previously published material. You have contributed several articles on business figures. I strongly urge you to read our Business FAQ, which will help you do so so they are more likely to remain in Wikipedia. I'd advise you to add this all very quickly, before it gets nominated for regular deletion.

You should note some points where our style is different from that of a press release. We do not repeat full names nor not repeat titles such a Mr., but refer to people after the first time by their last name only--and he prefer to use just she or he whenever possible. Awards and civic distinctions should be limited to the most important, and they should be documented, preferably by 3rd party independent reliable published sources, print or online (but not blogs or press releases or based of press releases as some trade papers are). Try to avoid adjective implying importance--give information instead, such as corporate size or turnover. And the articles look better if you avoid making "red-links" to organizations without articles. We are prepared to include a photograph of individuals with articles, if you can get them released under GFDL, as specified in WP:BFAQ .

I urge you to try again with the article on Lance West. It would be best to add additional material when you rewrite it, as suggested above, including references to him personally. DGG (talk) 07:19, 26 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
