A tag has been placed on Dear Enemy (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste 17:00, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I notice you've used the ((hangon)) tag on the page for Dear Enemy. You may wish to familiarize yourself with the information at WP:BAND, which represents the standards that an administrator will use when deciding whether or not to delete the page. Essentially, what would be required is objective third-party information (such as quotes from a magazine article, etc.) that demonstrate the notability of the topic. If I can help you in any way, feel free to leave a message on my talk page. Accounting4Taste 17:09, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your note, and I hope it works. The references to your own web page aren't considered third-party and, believe it or not, Wikipedia isn't considered a good source (because anyone can add anything at any time). But the reference to the news story is exactly what's required. Frankly, you've done more than 99% of the bands that I've tagged, and I'm going to go and remove my own tag, and replace it with a simple request for references. Anything you can do in the way of news stories would be excellent. Accounting4Taste 17:37, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
LOL well, you're not supposed to remove the tag on a page you've created yourself, but I was going to anyway, so fine, no worries. Good luck with building up the page, and with your band. If I can be of any further help, don't hesitate to get in touch via my talk page. Accounting4Taste 17:38, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia

Just so that you know, moving Dear Enemy novel pages in the cut-and-paste way you did is not a good method to do you wanted to do, as it means the page history for the original article is not in the right place. You need to use the move feature, though as a new user you cannot do this for a few days. I will making a few changes and getting some help so that we can retrieve the page history (I hope) and make the change in the proper way. --Slp1 21:05, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message on my talkpage. As I mentioned above, I understood exactly what you were trying to do: move the Dear Enemy information to Dear Enemy (novel), so that you could create a disambiguation page for the novel and the band. Fair enough. No problem. However the cut and paste method you used may be "simple as toast", but if you look at WP:MOVE you will see that this is not the way to do it here, and that you need to use the Move page function. For example, "Do not move or rename a page by copying/pasting its content, because doing so destroys the edit history " and "The "move page" function keeps the entire edit history of the page, before and after the move, in one place, as if the page were always named that way. So, you should never just move a page by cutting all the text out of one page, and pasting it into a new one; old revisions, notes, and attributions are much harder to keep track of if you do that". If you look at the history pages of the Dear Enemy pages you will see that I and an administrator (Cool Hand Luke) had to do a bunch of things to correct the situation. Everybody knows that it is difficult to know all the policies and procedures when you start editing here. Your mistake was totally understandable and not a biggy but I am just trying to draw your attention to the problem so that you don't use the cut-and-paste method again. Another good idea is to sign post of talkpages with 4 tildes (~) or with the blue signature button in the toolbar above the editing page window. It signs and dates your posts, which also makes it easier for other editors. Thanks and good luck with your editing in the future.--Slp1 13:02, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dear Enemy (band)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dear Enemy (band), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Dear Enemy (band).
