Hi Che,

I put your navbar through the W3C HTML validator and have altered my code to ensure it validates as Strict 4.01 HTML, mostly for "kicks and grins"...

Here's your original code:
<html>
<head>
<title>Che Nuevara's Wiki Navbar v 1.1</title>
<style>
#menu {width: 100%; background: white; float: left;}

Here's what I changed (highlighted in bold-type).
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<title>Che Nuevara's Wiki Navbar v 1.1</title>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<style type="text/css">
#menu { width: 100%; background: white; float: left;}
</nowiki>
Just three lines. I'm not too sure about the charset type, but it seems to work and you don't use any symbols as far as I can remember.

Kind regards,

Cool! I added those alterations to the posted code. Thanks. - Che Nuevara: Join the Revolution 14:48, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

No problem, I take a sad pride in getting HTML to validate! EVOCATIVEINTRIGUE TALKTOME | EMAILME | IMPROVEME 14:53, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

You deserve this.

Peer Review

You are very welcome for the comments on the peer review page - let me know when you make changes and I would be glad to look at it again. Your review happens to be below mine for Larrys Creek so I thought I would look at your article and see if I could offer any suggestions for improvement. Mediation

edit

Hi CheNuevara, I am still somewhat of a newcomer to WIkipedia as I have only edited several times since early this year. However, I have watched Wikipedia for over a year now and I think one thing that needs attention is MEDIATION. I have seen so many times that users (many newcomers) were mistreated by others and even admins, and I have also seen requests for help go ignored resulting in users leaving the project. I supported you on your RFA because you showed an interest in mediation and others have stated that you are a fair person. Basically what I am asking if you would be interested in being a mediation consultant or something like that. This is my goal in Wikipedia and if I ever achieve it, I would be happy to be working with someone like you. --HResearcher 14:06, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was suggesting maybe we could drag you over to the mediation cabal. I'll leave it up to Keitei, Kylu, and Cowman109 to decide if they like you, but I'm guessing you'd do ok. :-) Kim Bruning 14:14, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

While I can't say for certain whether or not I'd accept a MedCom nomination, I can't say that I'd eagerly pursue it. I find that MedCom is a last resort option, and last resorts almost always come to late. The formal dispute resolution system makes me a little uneasy. As per my comments on Talk:Democratic Underground, I would rather everyone walk away content; blocks, protects, and committe referrals are sometimes necessary but always dangerous.

I would be more open to a place in the MedCab, as that's really more what I believe in. And whether or not the formal informality of MedCab is paradoxical, I still think it's a good idea. But even if I were on MedCab, I'd be trying my best to find and resolve disputes before they even got flagged. My participation in the DU article was in response to a comment on my talk page.

That's all to say, even if I don't ever have a place on MedCom or MedCab, I'll continue mediating anyway, because it's what I believe in.

Peace! - CheNuevara 15:51, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, again Che

edit

Long time, no see. I am wondering if you wouldn't mind commenting in an RfC being held on my behalf where our conversation (yours and mine) is being referred to without your presence. In specific, there is mention of my taking gender offense from you which I don't believe has ever been the case. The edit in question is [1]. The mention in the RfC may be found here under "took offense too easily". I'd appreciate it if you could spare a few moments. Thanks. Ste4k 15:08, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Europe

edit

Rather originally, I'm going to Paris again- I went last August but missed a lot of the materials in the Louvre, and there are a few other things I've yet to do: I may even manage it to the top of the Tour Eiffel this time!

I picked late July this time in the hope the Champs-Elysées would be less dusty, but I somehow doubt that.

Speak to you soon,

Regards,

EVOCATIVEINTRIGUE TALKTOME | EMAILME | IMPROVEME 21:50, 26 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Be prepared, it's ridiculously hot here and, as you're probably aware, not so many places have AC. I'm in Germany at the moment, and it's wickedly hot. I'll be in Paris next week, by the way, but starting the first. Enjoy! - CheNuevara 21:59, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Haha, I bet. I've used the hotel before, it's pretty close to the Arc De Triomphe in a shaded side street and I don't remember it being too hot, but I can never remember its name: last time I just let the taxi drop me at the arch.

Think I can safely go home now, it's only 20 to midnight and I've got most of the stuff done I'd said I would this morning...no more work for days! Hurrah!

Bonsoir,

ShakespeareFan00

edit

I noticed that you called User:ShakespeareFan00 a "vandal account" in the Special:Ipblocklist when autoblocking an IP. I can't seem to find an entry for ShakespeareFan00 in the list of blocked users, and I can assure you he isn't a vandal. Although it may look like he's vandalising redirect, a careful review of them will reveal that he's doing extensive work to eliminate double-redirects. Can you lift his block? - CheNuevara 12:18, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

The reason you aren't seeing it in the block log is because he is no longer blocked.  ;-) [2] Can't sleep, clown will eat me 12:21, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
He's under autoblock #215202, which is still active. - CheNuevara 12:25, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
You're right, thank you for bringing that to my attention. I've cleared the autoblock as well. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 12:27, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your RfA

edit

I am sorry to inform you that your Request for Adminship (RfA) has failed to reach sufficient consensus for promotion, and has now been delisted and archived. Please do not look upon this outcome as a discouragement, but rather as an opportunity to improve. Try to address the concerns raised during your RfA and, in a few months' time, resubmit your request. Thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity! Redux 12:54, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Bleah. Sorry, man... it's a shame that most of the opponents seemed only to care about edit count and refused to look beyond it to what really makes a good administrator. You had your staunch defenders, who did take the time to look at your record, but I guess it wasn't enough. Close, though. I hope you get the mop soon. VoiceOfReason 15:25, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Almost. It's obvious where the objections lay - statistics - and it's no problem to overcome those and come back in 2 or 3 months. I'd be happy to nom or co-nom at that time, if your current record is maintained.Tyrenius 17:19, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, do keep doing what you are doing, because eventually you will pass. I don't think anyone had anything bad to say about your editing style except for the edit summary crap. Work on that, and in a few months you're golden. good luck! : ) AdamBiswanger1 17:58, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to hear about your RfA man. You would've made a good admin. Keep on doing your thing, and, in the future, I'll be happy to support you again. Thε Halo Θ 18:00, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the message. Edit summaries don't matter two hoots and Tyrenius is right; two/three months more article editing and I'll be glad to vote for you. Good luck, and keep up the good work! Moreschi 18:58, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for standing. Edit summaries are useful for busy editors, and easy to fix. I'll keep an eye out for you next time. Stephen B Streater 21:58, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry to hear that your nomination failed. I think you're a good candidate, but the main namespace contribs were just a tad low for me, which is why I changed to neutral. I won't hesitate to stand behind you next time though, so best of luck! --Merovingian - Talk 00:12, 28 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please use edit summaries much more often. It is now possible to set user's preferences to prompt when entering a blank edit summary under "Editing". Wait for a few more months and you should have a much better chance.--Jusjih 03:00, 28 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your support in my RfA! Unfortunately, the request did not pass, with a vote of (43/16/7). But your support was appreciated and I'll just keep right on doing what I do. Maybe I'll see ya around -- I'll be here!
Cheers! - CheNuevara

August Esperanza Newsletter

edit
Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

I've replied to you're comment on my talk page.

In brief, the page that needs a look over is Cattle mutilaiton. I really needs some constructive critisism. If something isn't up to scratch, I need to know what, and what I can do to bring it up to code. As things stand, there is another user who just deletes everything that they don't like and leaves me to guesss how to improve it.

Any constructive advice and tips would be most welcome.

Please don't bite. I'm trying to bring the page up to code. I just need to know which codes and how.
