Notability of Richard Martin Jarrell

edit

A tag has been placed on Richard Martin Jarrell requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Murderbike 07:57, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dear Murderbike (nice handle, that). As indicated, the article was created in response to a suggestion by the dude what took the old "Notable residents" list of "Newton, Massachusetts" and made it into its own article. Jarrell's notability has already been contested by Ajd, and RMJ's rejoinder is in that discussion page. If the deletion occurs, I have copied it all into a document on my computer so the work will not be lost, as happened to the article of RMJ's father Richard F. Jarrell (also deemed not notable by Ajd despite many Dogpile citations. Did you not understand the Kafka/Paris Hilton idea?--Residentteen 08:18, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Murderbike I see you have an interest in Anarchy. RMJ's primary mentor was the Anarchist composer John Cage, Jarrell ran as an Anarchist for the chair of the Student Executive Committee (won by default) at New College, a year later he gave the president of the college a heart attack (and could have been up for involuntarty manslaughter had the guy died), he has repeatedly turned himself in for possession of marijuana in an attempt to get the stuff relegalized (spending 6 weeks at notorious MCI Bridgewater after one such self-bust); I would have thought he was your kind of guy....--Residentteen 10:33, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I'm not convinced of the notability of this guy. You're free to participate in the vote though. Cheers, Murderbike 18:54, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
