Spring

Hey Renard!

I saw your question at the help desk: The easiest way to find the image (if it has been uploaded) is to go to the link at the top of your page that says "my contributions" and the image should be in there.

I checked your contributions before posting this, however, and there were no images uploaded, which suggests that the upload didn't "take." Try uploading it again with the exact same file name; if it is already on the site, you'll get an error message telling you we already have an image with that filename. If you do, then put "Image:(whatever the file name is)" in the search box and click go.

You can also search just images from the search feature: put in the title and click search, then when the search page comes up, scroll to the bottom and check the boxes next to the types of pages you want to search (in this case, check "image" and "image talk").

Spring? Sprung...

Hi Renard! I got your message; you've got leaving messages down right!

Hummmm...Did you remember to click the checkbox that says "I affirm that the copyright holder of this file agrees to license it under the terms of the Wikipedia copyright"? If you don't click that box, it won't let you upload, but you should get an error message if that happens.

It sounds to me as if the page isn't completely loading; if your image is properly uploaded, you should be taken to another page that shows the image, like this. If you aren't getting that page, then it isn't uploading. I'd try again, make sure to click the box, and see what happens.

If it still doesn't work, go back to my user page and click "email this user" (it's in the box below the search box) and email me the image; I'll upload it for you. That won't solve the problem of not being able to upload, but at least you'll have your image. -- Essjay · Talk 01:42, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)

Looks like you've got the spring image uploaded. It's now on the spring page. I've edited it to crop out the date. By the way I'm assuming you own the copyright to the image and have released it under the gfdl. When you upload your own images, could you put {{GFDL}} in the description box. It lets both humans and computers know the image is properly licensed. (Oh and of course please don't upload images which aren't you own, unless they are public domain). Hey Renard; I got your message. To add the GFDL tag to your images, insert {{GFDL}} in the edit box. This will automatically add the tag to the image page, and add the image to the category of images released under the GFDL. Thanks for being so diligent! -- Essjay · Talk 00:14, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)

Re:Userpages

Hi. As for your spellchecking question, no there isn't. Some users have proposed we create one, but it proved too dificult to do. However, there is good news! Even if you do misspell, some user will see it and fix it quickly. And noone will yell at you even if you spell badly. There's even a wikipedia bot program that fixes spelling. So all in all you have nothing to worry about. I'm a little unsure what you mean about how to create a new user page. I will give you three answers to what I think you mean. If you want to write something different on your user page, then just edit your page, delete what you have, and start over. If you want your page deleted because you put something on it that you want gone forever, put it up for speedy deletion by putting {{db|reason}} on the top. Instead of reason put why you want your page deleted. Then some admin will be along to delete it in a day or two. Finnally, if you want a sub-page, like the link to my personal sandbox on my user page, make a page called User:Renard/whatever. Just type that in the search bar and click create this page. Subpage

Hi Renard!

I saw your question; when you make a user subpage, the way to do it is to make a link on your user page. To do that, add this text: [[User:Renard/Spring]] and save the page. That will appear as User:Renard/Spring. Then, click on the link it creates, which will take you to a blank page (like an article that hasn't been created). Enter the text you want just like on any other page. When you're finished, you can keep it around, like your own personal sandbox, or you can have it speedy deleted by adding the tag {{delete}} . One extra benefit: Just like any other page, you get a user page and a talk page, so you actualy get two sandboxes out of the deal, since you can start one project on the user page, and another on the talk page.
