Japanese sculpture

I am removing your addition about netsuke from the article. Because netsuke is not sculpture. They are categorized as craft work/工芸品. See ja:彫刻, please. It says "生活実用性のある工芸品や陶芸品などは、通常は彫刻とは言わない。" If you cannot agree, please use talk page. Thank you. Oda Mari (talk) 02:13, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Please show me evidence references. At least Netsuke in wikipedia explains "miniature sculpture". I will find and offer some english reference books on it. May you cofused fine-arts and sculptures? Netsuke might be Not fine-arts, perhaps decorative arts, but surely sculptures.--ReijiYamashina (talk) 21:56, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

This page says it's crafts and this museum treats netsuke and sculpture differently. And not all netsuke are carved. There are maki-e netsuke , raden netsuke and simple stone netsuke. Though these are contemporary netsuke, there also are glass netsuke. Out of curiosity, are you a native Japanese speaker? Oda Mari (talk) 18:37, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

I feel your opinion should be "Because Metsuke is a craft( decorative art/ minor art), it sholud not be described in the section". It is worth consideration, so I have left it. By the way, Sculpture contains molding and casting, so bronze, clay, teracotta,and glass sculptures were produced before Ancient Roman Empire. Taima Mandala picture

Thanks for letting me know. Is File:Taima Mandala.jpg stylistically the same as the original Taima Mandala (i.e. is it a faithful copy)? Or does the original look completely different? bamse (talk) 08:59, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

The current image work inherits the compotition and form of the original. Unfortunately the under half of the original has been worn out, and the residue has been damaged seriously. It is the religious relics, so the temple seldom permit PHOTO.DONC. I recommend you to remove and leave it off, regretfully.
