March 2013 edit

Hello, I'm 4twenty42o. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added to the page Distance education, because to me it seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thanks, 4twenty42o (talk) 18:49, 18 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Distance education with this edit. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate may links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. 4twenty42o (talk) 18:57, 18 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Distance Learning edit

As a beneficiary of distance learning I can see the point you are trying to make. However,as an online encyclopedia, Wikipedia is not the place to advertise. Another point and I hope you do not take offense to my bluntness, but we have rules here regarding the reversion of edits that have been rejected by your other editors. The proper thing to do at this point is to take your argument to the articles talk page. Also, I am including links to a few articles that give a broader view of what we are trying to accomplish. WP:3rr, WP:SPAM and WP:COI. Regards 4twenty42o (talk) 19:57, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
