Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Ragtimema", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 18:08, 9 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

I am a single individual and not an organization nor a company. Therefore, I would like to continue using this name. "Ragtimema" is a simply my nickname, which means "ragtime madam".Ragtimema (talk) 02:20, 10 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Mr.Jpgordon, I do not understand why you have blocked me as I don't write about myself nor my spouse on Wikipedia. Moreover, I am retired and do not have my own professional websites on Internet. Therefore, I wonder why you should block me without knowing the truth about me. I am still interested in writing about something here, only if you would give me permission to do so.Ragtimema (talk) 03:08, 11 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

There is more evidence than not that you are, or are related to, the person you are writing about. Even if you are not, your username is that of a website and you will need to change it per the username policy. I think you will also need to read about conflict of interest. I am declining this request. 331dot (talk) 11:21, 11 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps I am confused, but at Alexei Rumiantsev, you linked to https://ragtimema.jimdo.com/; are you calling yourself ragtimema but linking to another ragtimema? --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 06:07, 11 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

I would like to change my name from "Ragtimema" to "Yamasaki at Ohfuna City". I am sorry that you are confused. "Alexei Rumiantsev" is "ragtimepa" which means "ragtimepapa" and ”Hiromi Rumiantseva” is "ragtimema" which means "ragtimemama" or "ragtimemadam". My nickname is "RAGUTAIMU FUJIN" in Japanese which means both "Ragtime Madam" or "Ragtime Lady" where two different Chinese characters are used. The former "nobleman's wife", the latter "woman". I should have chosen "Ragtime Lady", but I chose "Ragtime Madam" by preference. Now I understand there is some kind of confusion in translation. As I already wrote, I have no website of my own.Ragtimema (talk) 12:27, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

So, let's get this straight. You created a Wikipedia account, choosing a user name which was a version of a nickname by which you are known. Your only editing has been about a couple. You are not one of the couple, and have no personal connection to them. By a remarkably funny coincidence, out of all the people in the world you could have written about, one of the couple you have written about is known by the same nickname that you used as your user name, her web site uses that name, and you linked to her web site in your editing. That could be so, but from looking at your editing history it seems highly unlikely. (Over the years I have seen much more plausible explanations as to why editors choose user names related to subjects they are writing about but to which claim they have no connection.) unblock discussion

@Alexf: Which subjects/articles must he agree to avoid as conditions of unblocking? -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 19:39, 11 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure I'm seeing the "translation issue" as pertaining to the block. It would probably be best not to link to the website of that name. As the article you created has not been deleted, I don't know if there are issues with that subject or his wife. You and your wife? Or am I misreading the prior discussion. At any rate, cannot unblock w/o hearing from Alexf first. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 19:46, 11 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Dlohcierekim: Fine. -- Alexf(talk) 20:04, 11 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for changing my name to Yamasaki at Ohfuna City. I noticed that it was not a good idea to use a name including Ragtime, because Hiromi Rumiantseva uses Ragtime, Ragtimema, Ragtimemadam and Ragtimemama on her websites. Because Alexei Rumiantsev doesn't sell CDs on his Webpage nor shows his monthly live schedules, I never thought it is to be a commercial page. He has rather lots of pictures, concerts memories and ragtime repertories. I think you can delete all the links to the websites if necessary. As I wrote, I am not a business person and those links are not important for me at all. By the way, I wrote about several people in Japanese on the Japanese-language edition of Wikipedia page, but they are all deleted as many people said they are not famous enough to be written about. I just happened to write about Alexei Rumiantsev in English on the Japanese-language edition of Wikipedia page by mistake and asked others to transfer that text to the right place, such as on the English-language edition of Wikipedia page. It seems to others that I only wrote Alexei Rumiantsev 's page in English, but it was not my intention in the first place. I have been writing about female Ragtime pianists and composers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries both in English and in Japanese in my free time, but not yet submitted to WIKIPEDIA, and am still interested in writing about current ragtime artists if it is possible. Anyway, I would like to write more about active people in Japan, but probably in Japanese, as I am still blocked. I am terribly sorry for the misunderstanding.--Yamasaki at Ohfuna City (talk) 12:20, 18 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Alexei Rumiantsev

edit

Hello Yamasaki at Ohfuna City,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Alexei Rumiantsev for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Dan Koehl (talk) 08:06, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Mr. Dan Koehl, Thank you for your message. I still feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and would like more time to work on the article about Alexei Rumiantsev, as I often heard from the musicians all over the world that there are only 5 professional ragtime pianists in the world and most of them passed away in the last century. What a pity there are absolutely none in the multiethnic town New Orleans where ragtime music was born and cherished by many. As you probably aware of, Ragtime is the first popular music in the world which contain full of American history and culture. I am very much impressed by the Russian guy who keeps playing these half-forgotten old ragtime tunes on the piano that lead to the birth of jazz music from classical music. Therefore, I strongly believe that it is significant to keep an eye on his activity and contribution or any other living ragtime pianists', both amateur and professional, in the world. They are all keen on collecting rare scores from the State library in order to bring them up to the living world and perform the tunes. Moreover, I often asked about Alexei Rumiantsev by foreign governments, institutions, and international organizations, even the American Military and the White House did. According to the president of the jazz center in Russia, Alexei Rumiantsev is said to be the best ragtime pianist in Russia and perhaps the best and the youngest in the world at this moment.
