Usefulness

Hilarious. :D It also seems to me like a very useful compendium. Gathering lightly presented material that nevertheless covers some serious topics might be a good way to get new editors acquainted with these concepts. Since you say it is aimed at new users, though, I wonder about tweaking the intro: "This is a comprehensive guide to Wikipedia" since it doesn't address some of the bones of actual editing, but rather more the philosophies. Since many of the essays linked are funny, maybe something like a "lighthearded guide to Wikipedia's philosophies"? (YMMV) I also wonder if you might want to link your final statement to something like Welcome so that after the fun newbies can wander into the meat of editing articles. --Moonriddengirl 12:21, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'd agree with much of that. It's clearly not aimed at novice editors, but at those with enough experience to start making a nuisance of themselves. It is all "Don't"s, no Do's - bucking the usual formula for such things. Johnbod 12:26, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Stuff like;

  • Don't post personal information if you don't want people to find out who you are.
  • It's your page to welcome people, so make it welcoming
  • Paste lots of pics of anchovies.

and the like? LessHeard vanU 20:43, 5 September 2007 (UTC) (I like anchovie paste!)Reply
