Country Pop Music

copied from "Country Pop" and edited by me

Country pop is a subgenre of country music and pop music that was developed by members of the Country genre out of a desire to reach a larger, mainstream audience. By producing country songs that employed many styles and sounds found in pop music, the country music industry was effective in gaining new listeners without alienating its traditional country audience. The new young and exciting country pop music is often known for genres like rock, pop, and country combined. Throughout the years, Country music has been a hit, making country music remain one of the top selling and most listened to genres of music in America today. It is a continuation of similar efforts that began in the late 1950s originally known as Nashville sound and later on Countrypolitan. By the mid-1970s, many country artists were transitioning to the pop-country sound which led to some records charting high on mainstream top 40 as well as country Billboard charts. Country artists like Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, and Shania Twain were some of the first country artists who transitioned to pop-like music, changing it's style of country music. Now, mostly all of country singers are following the this "country pop-like" trend.

(country pop trend today): Today, latest country artists like Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, and Carrie Underwood make their music more pop-like with country intertwined as well. Their songs are taking over Country Radio stations all over the United States, today. For instance, country pop singer, Darius Rucker, became one of the top recording artists in the business and a member of the Grand Ole Opry for his country pop songs. Darius Rucker is the "first African-American to join the Opry since Charley Pride became a member in 1993". His hit song, "Wagon Wheel", was a hit for it's pop style in the song, making more listeners interested in his style of music. Not only did Darius Rucker have a bunch of hit country-pop songs, but him as well as other new country artists' concerts sell out in an instant, making country pop music so popular nowadays. Live tours by country artists within the last few years, Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley, are consistently among the best-attended and most profitable among live shows according to Rob Burkhardt.

(maybe put this next part in with the country pop trend today since it is a country star and pop singer together):

The 2016 ACM'S consists of the most popular country artists today like Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, etc. Back in 1960's, Dolly Parton was one of the ultimate country-pop trend setters, making some of her songs "Jolene" and "Coat of Many Colors" history. During the 2016 ACMS, Dolly Parton sang a duet with a popular pop artist, Katy Perry, making this one of the best highlights of the 2016 ACM'S. This shows a good demonstration as to how pop artists and country artists go hand in hand and actually have a lot in common with their style and taste of music. Nowadays for country awards, many pop singers are invited to these awards and end up having their own special moment on the stage, just like Katy Perry got to do.
