"Strong"

edit

Re: "Use the oversaturated versions of Symbol strong support vote.svgsupport and Symbol oppose vote oversat.svgoppose for strong support and strong oppose". Please don't. Those phrases are meaningless hyperbole, and have no effect on outcome (if the closer is doing their "job" properly). Giving them a special icon will just encourage their over-use, at a time when they're finally declining. Let them die in peace, don't make them into zombies.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  21:28, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Strong support &   Done pythoncoder  (talk | contribs) 16:24, 7 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Note: Obviously, I did in fact end up adding these, because the goal of the script is to be descriptive, not prescriptive: to reflect the actual usage of votes rather than tell people how to vote. In addition, Meta and other sites that use polling templates have templates that use different symbols for (strong/weak) (support/oppose), so I put these same symbols in the script. —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 13:57, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Issue

edit

The old code works fine on RTL wikis but this one didn’t work when I tested it in ckb wiki. I’m hoping @Pythoncoder: can look into it and globalize the code.--▸ ‎épine talk 11:37, 11 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

By old code, do you mean Ais523's script was the one that worked, or do you mean a more recent update broke it? (I could see 3.0 causing issues because it added spaces...) Also, could you link to any foreign-language ports of the script you know of? Thanks —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 16:09, 13 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Épine, If you're still interested in me trying to fix the script, could you please provide a link to a page where this script would be expected to work but it doesn't? Thanks —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 14:35, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes and No

edit

@Pythoncoder: Can you also add Yes and No to the script or would the cause false positives?BrandonXLF (talk) 08:46, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

BrandonXLF, as the script is currently written (and it's been this way since the very beginning), the script doesn't apply symbols to anything with the word "no" (because that would generate misleading symbols for votes such as no support). What I could probably do is make it so if the bold text is only yes or no then it shows the symbol. —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 13:49, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Death icon for recent deaths

edit

Could the File:Symbol death.svg symbol be added for "Recent death" and "RD" for WP:ITN purposes, just like ongoing? And perhaps File:Symbol list class.svg for "Blurb", since it seems like text and ITN items are a list? Aaron Liu (talk) 22:20, 24 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
