Book covers

edit

I haven't been involved in any of the book covers, but after seeing your note on talk:Webster Tarpley I took a quick look. It appears that you need to provide more information regarding the permissions. It looks like it's a routine bureaucratic issue, not related to the content. I see that on one of the book cover files, there's now a large sign that says, in part:

  • This file is missing evidence of permission. It has an author and source, but there is no proof that the author of the image or its subject (in the case of artwork) agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide evidence of permission by either providing a link to a site with an explicit grant of permission that complies with the licensing policy or by forwarding email communication granting permission to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Unless permission is granted, the file can be speedy deleted seven days after this template was added and the uploader was notified: (4 August 2009).

I suggest you read carefully the notices added to the different book covers you're concered with, and make sure that each of the problems is addressed.   Will Beback  talk  04:08, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Account name

edit

There is a rule against "role accounts", and account names that correspond with organization names are always blocked. See WP:ORGNAME I suggest that you stop using this account and create a new one.   Will Beback  talk  04:08, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a few moments to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}. Thank you. I created the name Progressive Press because I had so much trouble convincing editors that I was uploading my own work.

I see you are an admin and an editor. I have been advised to ask an admin or editor before uploading images. How can I upload fair use images directly to wikipedia? I have been advised to do that instead of on commons since there is fair use on wikipedia but not on commons. thanks. ProgressivePress (talk) 10:36, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

There are two routes to get the book covers uploaded. If you own all the copyrights, including those of images in collages, then you can opload them to the Commons, and you can send an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org idneifying yourslef as the owner. If you don't haev complete ownership, and want to claim fair use, you can click on the "Upload file" link on the left of the window. However you can only put fair use images in articles that directly discuss the work.   Will Beback  talk  17:03, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
