This is looking really great: You've added several sections that are well-sourced, well-organized, and in encyclopedic language. I especially appreciate the historical context you've added, to help give some grounding for the interpretation of the story.

Other than the couple of citation needed flags I've added, my only major revision suggestion is about your final section: Wikipedia disprefers "criticism" sections. I encourage you to title that instead "Reception," and maybe reframe the opening (e.g. instead of "Despite winning...," start with that win).
