Hi,

I noticed that you recently added some text concerning golf etiquette to the main golf page. While etiquette is obviously a very important concept relating to golf, I think that the topic might be better suited for its own page to be linked off of the main golf page. I've reverted your edit on the main golf page, but I would recommend contributing to the golf etiquette page instead, and we'll link off of the main golf page to the etiquette page. Social networking

edit

Thanks for contacting me. I reverted your addition to social network (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Social_network&diff=next&oldid=57572350) because it is not necessary to have an external link in the body of an article (unless it's a reference). I suppose a piped link (such as [[GolfBuzz|golf]]) would be okay, but an external link to the website is needless, it seems like spam. -- getcrunkjuicecontribs 23:53, 8 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I guess that IP user did not read through the GolfBuzz article. Of course at least one part of it is definitely social networking. I have re-added the article to the list. By the way, you should wikify the GolfBuzz article, to make it conform to the Wikipedia manual of style. You should also find some press mentions of the website and mention them in the article. (Don't forget to reference them!) Thanks! -- getcrunkjuicecontribs 23:10, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Please do not add external links to your own websites. The WP:Spam#How_not_to_be_a_spammer page has more information on how you can contribute to Wikipedia without setting off the spam detectors. Thanks, and happy editing! --Alan Au 19:16, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

GolfBuzz

edit

Hi Prcoulson. I have placed a prod tag on the GolfBuzz page, not because the article is necessarily unencyclopedic, but because we have had problems in the past with editors using Wikipedia for self-promotion. Even if this is not specifically the case, we still run into problems with guaranteeing the neutrality of articles written about an editor's own website. As mentioned above, the WP:Spam#How_not_to_be_a_spammer page has more information on how you can contribute to Wikipedia without setting off the spam detectors. Thanks for your understanding. --Alan Au 19:21, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
