Yoshi's Story.

Dear "Power Box,"

In recent weeks, your actions have caused us to take drastic action to keep our content accurate and secure. In the case of the Yoshi's Story Wiki Project, we're quite adamant in our stand that the Reception section must remain as is. As we stated in the Discussion section, it took time to research and compile all the information. The Wikipedia Staff has recognized the Reception section as accurate and, therefore, has allowed us to keep it in their database. Your persistent actions have been seen as troublesome and obnoxious; Deleting other people's hard work out of spite is a poor excuse for your actions.

If you write your changes in the Sandbox, we'll look and consider adding them to our current work. This needless back-and-forth isn't accomplishing anything, and, personally, I don't want the team (or our supporters) checking Yoshi's Story on a daily basis to keep everything in place.

We put a lot of work into the article, and we hate to see people "scrubbing it clean" because they're easily agitated by the truth. So, please, if you have changes you would like to see in the article, please be more courteous and respectful of other Wikipedia members.

Hey, Power Box. I read your note, and while I'm not speaking for the entire team, I can say that I personally feel better about the situation after reading your note. One thing about Wikipedia is that there are factions of people, most of which aren't part of Wikipedia's staff, that watch articles religiously for changes. (For example, you can't go near the Super Nintendo article. Even some people in our team attempted edits, but, no matter how positive, minor, or otherwise, those efforts were always reverted.) Wikipedia is not completely free to all in that respect. With that in mind, our team has recently been very dedicated to the Yoshi's Story article; We've spent hours expanding and editing the page to our liking. However, our interests have been largely misconstrued.

Yoshi's Story is an odd case, but, before reading on, please note that we're Yoshi's Story fans too. As Yoshi's Story and Nintendo fans, we feel that it's necessary to bring our information to the public. This is due largely to the fact that many Nintendo fans are, oddly enough, rejecting Yoshi's Story's actual reception. The truth of the matter is that the large majority of people were upset by the game. Yoshi's Story was meant as (and advertised as) the spiritual successor to Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and, quality-wise, Yoshi's Story didn't even try to be that game. That didn't sit well with people for many reasons, but one of the largest was the price: For US buyers, the MSRP was $59.99. (A steep price for a video game back in the day.) Simply put, it's not an all-positive history like Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Super Mario 64. Therefore, writing anything as accurate as our Reception section is actually controversial among Nintendo fans.

We are going to continue working on the article, but I'm going to see if I can convince the rest of the team to accept a less negative Reception section. I did appreciate the note, though, and, personally, I wish more Nintendo fans were as receptive and mature as you. So, what I'll do is watch for your edits and take them into consideration. I'll tell the rest of the team to do the same.

I know how it feels when groups of Wiki People won't let anyone else make even a minor edit to "their article." Indeed, it seems to defeat the purpose of the Wikipedia concept. Nevertheless, I feel that large-scale efforts shouldn't be deleted with a single edit either. So, a middle-of-the-road approach is probably the only solution that works in a case like this.

Hey dude. I think we could work on the article together and bring back some of the old content. I reverted one of the times just to get a clean TXT dump of the whole thing. I always felt bad for EA because Punctured_Bicycle just started whitle-blowing and tarnishing the whole thing. He ripped the whole thing to shreads and ruined all his work. That's just wrong and it's disrespectful. With a calm and mature head, I think it's time to combine the new with the accurate. The stuff that's there now really is accurate, but it's dumbed down to nothing compared to what ti was. It's kind of like when Wikipedia decided to remove Trivia stuff. All the fun info was stripped away! Wikipedia can still be about in-depth accuracy, though. We can make an article if we just use the right cites and put down neutral stuff. Me again. I guess the Reception section is the meat of the research done by EA, so yeah that'll do just fine. I'm glad you're on board, but don't be nervous because, above all else, it's Wikipedia. We're not breaking any laws. People band together all the time, and they get away with it because they're in the "Nintendo Wiki" or "Sony Wiki" team. Well, we'll be the goddamn "Yoshi Wiki" team and do what our group feels like doing. If Punc shows up again, we have to just discredit his posts the logical way and then switch back his changes.

Just replace the existing information with the information from your cite, and Wiki does the rest. give it a try, or look at someone else's cite. It's really not too bad.

That's all it needed to format right. Keep up the good work. I'm not sure how to chime in myself just yet, but believe me, I'm working on how to include more of the real stuff. Finding sites that backed up some of E.A.'s claims don't exist in article form anywhere, so some parts may not make it in. Most of it is the real deal when it comes to finding references, so I'm not concerned about bringing back the bulk of it.

I'm sure that, if Punc's out there, he probably noticed I edited your cite to make it work. So, if he rises up at all, we'll know. Keep a copy of the version of Yoshi's Story you're working on in the meantime. Hey man.

Haven't heard from you in a while - How have things been? I haven't had time to do any Wiki Work, but it's nice to see Punc hasn't made any edits since December. As far as editing, do what you feel is right. The Yoshi's Story article doesn't belong to me, after all. (It may belong to Punc if he returns and decides to report you for N_POV.) I support what you do, since you're the balance between my negativity towards the game. The "rational fan-boy" stance is exactly what the article needs right now. Yoshi's Story Article.

Wow, there's even behind the scenes stuff here, too. Well, let me add to the mess. Power Box, you've been with this whole Yoshi's Story controversy since the beginning, it seems. I get it, unfortunately, and it's interesting how Punctured_Bicycle gathered forces for his assault and started the widespread Yoshi's Story editing fever. Users like EliotAndrews and Nijon76 seem to be long gone, so what's your stance on the article right now? I admit, I find the whole thing intriguing. Yoshi's Story happens to be a game from my past, too, so seeing pages worth of debate over a tiny game is fascinating. TheoriesAbound (talk) 05:24, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
