Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Fall 2006 Cover.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Fall 2006 Cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:08, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use image

edit

Ok, as I understand it (and correct me if I'm wrong), what was uploaded was a low-res magazine cover for illustrative purposes on the article about the magazine? That should be fine (sometimes our fair use policing gets a bit overexcited).

Just upload the image again and template it as

for now, explicitly identifying the source of the image, and the statements that it is used to identify the publication, along with a statement of the article that it is to be used in. Then promptly insert it into the relevant article so it isn't flagged as "orphaned non-free image". That should be enough. The matter of regular updating the cover would be more complicated and I'll need to investigate that. I suspect that would require regular updates of low-res properly GFDLed covers but I'm not sure. I'll get back to you on that. JoshuaZ 13:15, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

JoshuaZ, Thanks for the reply - it's clear. I'll do as you suggest as soon as I have time. Our thanks as well for your earlier NPOV edits. -Rich

Proposed deletion of Yale Economic Review

edit

The article Yale Economic Review has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Ephemeral magazine that seems to have disappeared completely (website is dead). No independent sources. Does not meet WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
