edit

Hello, I'm Eteethan. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —the one you made with this edit to Megumi Igarashi— because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Eteethan(talk) 19:58, 10 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I came across your recent contribution to Megumi Igarashi and saw your edit summary claiming that another user was harassing you by reverting your edit "for no reason." Eteethan wasn't harassing you: he was right to revert your edit—and he gave you a reason—because your changes, while clearly well-intended, fell below Wikipedia's standards in a number of ways:

  • Your description of her art didn't have any references. See WP:NOR.
  • You put external links in the main text of the article, contra WP:ELCITE.
  • You used unlabeled links: they made a huge unsightly mess in the body of the article. Ugly! Never use bare URLs like that. Instead, use a labeled anchor: for example, type [https://wikipedia.org/ Link Title] and Link Title will appear in the article. See here for more information.
  • An Amazon page for a book is irrelevant and likely inappropriate per WP:LINKSTOAVOID.
  • Most importantly, what you wrote—and I mean no offense—was poorly written. I know that learning a foreign language is hard, English especially so, and I have a lot of respect for anyone who goes out of her way learn it. Really, bravo. But effort is not always enough, and most Wikipedians will revert changes that are written in very broken English: it's hard to understand, and we want our articles to look polished. Don't take it personally.

I took the time to clean up your edit enough that most of it can probably stay. But I wanted to let you know why you'd been reverted. Thank you, and I wish you the best.
